2-1 BC, Maine gives up a Shortie. Good to see Gibson score for Maine

As I sit having a beer in the Old Port after this arse kicking, I am totally discouraged. I can't list anything this team did well tonight. I will not list all the things they didn't do. Morris was horrible. As I said last week, he is a journeyman Div 3 goalie. Red pulled him at 5-1. I am taking a break from this nonsense of a D1 hockey team.

Way too much smurfiness out there. Can't catch em, can't hit em, can't even pin em. BC's got a nice team there that works hard and is quick, not to mention that Woll is a wall. They'll be a load for any team in Hawkey East to handle. Transition game is where they hurt ya. Good crowd, too bad they didn't have much to motivate them. Most BC goals Matty had no chance on, tic tax toe variety

It will be a closer game tomorrow night, maybe. According to the announcers Maine couldn't handle the puck and couldn't skate with BC. It will be interesting to see Gendron's strategy tomorrow night.

Glad that I decided not to make the trip; Gritty's would have run out of Blackfly tonight. :p

This team is somewhat better than last year's train-wreck, but nowhere near an NCAA contender. (12 wins might be the ceiling.)

And call me a "whiner", but the recruiting still isn't there, plain and simple. I really don't see that ever happening under Red at this point.

I just want to get through this year. Next year we will be competing for a national title;).

Your NOT a "whiner'....nope, you see and say the facts....and there not positive to say the least.

What is the crowd like?

Good crowd. Not a sell out but still a very strong showing. Without the band and the students (and with the score) the place had absolutely no atmosphere at all. Last year vs Lowell was pretty bad but tonight was miserable because BC dominated and we didn't even have the band there to make it bearable. I just wanted the game to end after the second period.

Thats good, I guess, but too bad for that many people to see them get smoked. Any talk around the rink of Herner playing tomorrow?

This is a random thought but is there any chance Hockey East made Maine play two league games at CCCC to offset the two Uconn away games that are at neutral sites? Just something that popped into my mind today. I know the almighty dollar is important but its hard for me to believe Maine would intentionally put themselves at such a disadvantage in a couple of league games.

You are the first person I've heard mention that name...so...no...

Anyone in eastern Maine see Rob interviewed on WABI this week? Know what day it was? Apparently at that interview he was fine, so whatever happened it was after that interview. No one asked Red about in the presser because getting injury information from him is like pulling teeth.

That doesn't sound good. From radio I got the perspective maine wasn't even in the same rink as bc. The 2nd was a joke with nonstop breakaways. Once again fooled by the start.

I can still be patient with this team only because of so many freshman being relied on. But I don't understand the breakaway after breakaway last night. My seat didn't give me a good look at positioning but something was not good out there all night. Granted bc is quick and we did not play any kind of trap but maybe we will need to tonight to eliminate those. 2 on 1 and 3 on 1 all night it seemed like

Anyone know where to find the post game coach interviews?
A few years ago the campus radio station posted some of the home game ones, but seemed to have lost interest last year.

Any game ive ever been to at the portland rink has lousy atmosphere, its just that place. Or so it seems. Not much of a home ice advantage.

I didn't have big expectations for this team, thought I was wrong after the start but now its more what I expected. Goaltending is the key and without Rob that key is broken. Matt doesn't seem to have what it takes at this level. Not saying Maine would have won with Rob as BC clearly outplayed them. I think most have wondered why Red doesn't trap. Its clear Maine can't skate with some of these teams, why not slow them down? I don't want to watch a trap but... Maybe tonight they can slow BC down. I would assume Matt in net again and maybe a few different players although I think last nights lineup had Maines best players out there besides Rob?

Yeah I guess Maine had their best guys out there. Maine had some stretches where they had offensive zone pressure but Woll made some athletic saves to snuff out the opportunities. Be surprised if there isn't some sort of trap at Alfonso tonight

For this team at times the TRAP would be the idea way to go...BUT you can forget that under RG, he won't have any of that type of play. Nope. He's stubborn and its his way/plan and no matter what. Team defense is weak on the back end and they get ripped apart when other teams use there speed...especially at times breaking through the middle. Its been a weak point before and is again this season.
