UMaine '26-'27: The Bridge On the River Stillwater

So I get a political flyer today from shaky suzie and the pos is wearing a new balance maine hockey coat. Such a huge fan.
I used to think that she had some integrity. Wrong again. You have to wonder why someone her age would sell out when her time is nigh, but then you have Miss Lindsey...

1990 is the start of a decade. 2008 is a year chosen to give as many playoff appearances to football as possible, while minimizing hockey appearances. Hockey has as many national championship appearances in their 47 years as football has playoff wins in 49 years of minor league D1. 3 winning seasons in the last decade isn't bad I guess?
Maine Football will only be relevant in Maine's fans minds.

Maine preview

It mentions that the game will stream exclusively on FloHockey, so don't expect it to show up on the ESPN app.
They didn't note it in the preview but Max Scott being a captain this season will officially make the third set of brothers to do so at Maine.

Capuano: Jack (86/87 & 87/88) | Dave (88/89)
Kariya: Paul (93/94) | Steve (97/98 & 98/99) | Martin (01/02 & 02/03)
Scott: Harrison (24/25) | Max (26/27)

An off topic complaint with nowhere else to complain about it:

It's really gross that WCSH eliminated its local sports desk, basically ignores high school sports, but has Lee Goldberg and the weather guy doing a weekly sports betting show sponsored by Caesar's Sportsbook.

Season preview from The Maine Campus

The schedule indicates the games are televised by FloHockey
Friday
Saturday

The ESPN app also shows the games being televised there, but it's ESPN and I wouldn't put a lot of faith in them when it comes to college hockey. Holy Cross is Hockey East in women's hockey so my bet is the person that does the schedule just assumed the men are too.
Friday's game at Holy Cross is on NESN+

Had a chance to take in practices yesterday and today. Definitely much more cohesive couple of days compared to last week and a bit more clarity on what the lineup will look like for Friday.

There have been a few guys on the sidelines a bit: No Campbell in any of the three practices I've seen, Scott was in a no-contact jersey today getting up to speed (doubt he plays this weekend) and didn't see Romaine or Usereau out there today.

If I were estimating lines based on some of the combos I've seen:

Fowler | Scholle | Alfano (this will definitely be the top line)
Klimpke | Calvert | Russell
Parks | Lipinski | Gerrior
Makway | James | Fleece

Krebs | Peterson
Langlois | Parekh
Lafton | Bales

Usereau (extra)

Boija
Wickstrom Stumer

I'd guess a 70/30 split at most in favor of Boija this season. He looks far and away the best option in net.

PP1 I would expect: Alfano | Russell | Scholle | Fowler | Peterson
PP2 didn't seem set but expect Parekh to be the 2nd unit QB. He's looked really smooth in that role.
Thanks Tyler! This earned a shoutout on the Til The Rafters Ring Podcast.

So they weren't his guys (Barr) last year?
Whose were they?
They were high skill CHL players brought in with little vetting because they were affordable NIL-wise. The coaching staff learned from this, admitted their mistakes and prioritized culture fits over pure skill this year. This isn't new information. Can't wait until the puck drops and dead horses can stop being beaten.

Dead horses have been beat on here since this forum started. Used to be more fun than it is now. Go Blue.Hope we see a different Boija than last year Boija. I think we will

I dont see it on tbe espn+ tv schedule for tonight????
The games have been removed from the app and the updated ESPN schedule no longer lists them. Some intern in Bristol may have learned that Hockey East for men's and women's teams is not the same...

Good chance to see Quinnipiac in action ahead of the home opening series next weekend...

Jay Leach was a tremendous coach, mentor and friend who made a lasting impact on our program during his years behind the Maine bench.
