UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Team had a couple good chances but the lack of bonafide finishers is apparent. Hoping for a third period BC meltdown to make the drive down here worth it. Not feeling great about those prospects right now tho.

Good night all!

Let's see what happens here. BC has blown 2-0 leads twice in the last month going back to 2/13. Next goal is huge and BC is extremely mentally fragile and already took 1 stupid penalty. BC also makes no adjustments so Barr will have a chance to figure something out here.

edit - actually BC has blown a 2-0 lead three times in the past month. Next goal really is huge.
Wasn't gonna happen. Enjoy Greg Clown for another game. You're welcome.

Tough game to watch, they were pretty horrible. Might be the worst game they played all year. I saw so many passes to nobody, lazy flings of the puck right onto Eagle sticks, slow fighting for pucks, you name it.

This team had a real knack this year of playing badly for a while, looking good again and giving me a glimmer of optimism, and then crashing down again. It was a real roller coaster of a year. I suppose after they lost to Colgate we should have realized that it might not be smooth sailing this time around.

A sincere thank you to Brandon Holt, Brandon Chabrier, Thomas Freel, and Grayson Arnott. Though their last season and last game did not go how anyone wanted or expected, their contributions to the team and to the program are a big reason why losing 5-0 at Conte Forum to end the season feels like a major disappointment and let-down, instead of how the season was always expected to end.

I saw a lot of hugs going around in the pile after the game, even to and between guys who aren't seniors. I wonder if thats a signal of a very close group of guys, or a group who knows that big changes are coming and this is the last time that many of them will be teammates. Maybe both, who knows.

I think Chabrier took it particularly rough. He was the last Black Bear off the ice and he had a lot of long hugs with a lot of guys. He also gave away his stick to a random kid who was a Maine fan standing near the tunnel.

Onto next year, will have some more thoughts to post later on.
