UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Any thoughts on tomorrow's game? PC kicked Maine's ass a few weeks back down in Rhode Island, but I have a feeling they will win tomorrow. I'll say 4-2 Maine with an empty netter.

PC is white hot (won 7 of 8 since the start of the year, averaging 3.8 goals per game in that stretch) looking exactly like the team most people thought they'd be in the preseason. Leaman has them rolling so this one feels like a real measuring stick game for me to take Maine's chances of contending in March.

Assuming he starts again, which Boija shows up tonight? Flip a coin I guess and hope Maine is taking this game as seriously as they should be.
 
PC fits the mold of the teams that have been trouble for Maine the past few seasons. Big, heavy, fast and physical, reminded me of Cornell when we saw them a few weeks back.

I think Maine will be ready to go so I expect a tight game. Have a strange feeling Maine pulls out a tight game, 2-1 in regulation.
 
I think Maine can beat PC as long as they don't give away easy goals like BC did to PC a couple of weeks back. BC terribly gave away 3 goals to players in front of the net losing 4-3 in OT. I am not thinking PC is the best in the league even though they currently are highest ranked.

This is good to hear, they could obviously use some fire. Especially because it just hit me as I was looking around a bit just how big of a game this is for Maine, both locally in HEA and also nationally in the NPI. In HE, Maine currently sits in 8th place, but three points with a win tonight and they climb all the way to 4th (in a vacuum at least, pending other results). And in the NPI, winning tonight would boost Maine from 23rd up to 19th (again, in a vacuum at least) and some slivers of hope for qualifying at-large start to seep thru. Really big game, so I'm even more excited to watch than before.

Barr abandoned the rotation when the rotation should have been firmly in place as Rousseau had been performing better.

In some games Boija definitely played below average and still stayed in.

It seems he has made his choice for the stretch run.

I like Rousseau and think he deserved to be in rotation getting half the games.

But I’d be surprised if we don’t see Boija tonight and in most games since Barr is favoring him.

If they come out and lay an egg like they did last time they played PC then you have to pay for getting our friggin hopes up.

I think making you eat a salad of beats, pickles, radish, sardines, and raw eggs topped with yellow mustard. Just so we aren’t considered too cruel, we will give you something to wash it down with… lemon juice with a sprinkle of water.

Sounds like a typical vegetarian meal at my household 😆 🤣
