UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Hindsight is 20/20, but maybe Ben should have stuck with the rotation.
This should be a regimented decision.....not an emotional one based on one game. Disappointing....I thought for sure Rousseau would be in net tonight. Now Barr has taken Boija's stellar game last night and flushed it down the toilet along with his confidence.

Situational awareness isn’t strong on this team. When officials called that tick tacky interference on Denver to negate their power play you knew the officials were calling it tight. Bench Boss should make them aware of this and tell them not to cross the line and to err on side of caution. Instead what we see is a series of unnecessary idiot penalties that could easily be avoided. This is what keeps Maine from being in the ncaa playoff grouping. Bad situational awareness combined with some softies make Maine a .500 squad in hockey east. This is what we see tonight too. Either coaching isn’t make them aware of this, or the players don’t listen. I think it is players don’t listen and still do dumb penalties when they know the officials were calling is calling everything tight and tick tacky.

To be fair I think it’s far from a certainty that Rousseau would’ve played better

Two really great games to watch. I do generally think that it was more of Maine playing well than it was DU playing poorly. Up to about 21 in NPI now, firmly in the bubble conversation. Special teams still weren't great on both sides, but Id rather be a team that's solid 5on5 with iffy special teams as opposed to PP merchants. They really did look way better this weekend, and everyone should be happy with the result. Hopefully this becomes a springboard for the rest of the season, if they play like this the rest of the way they will be in really good shape.
