UCONN Hockey 2012-13: Hockey East Here We Come

Re: UCONN Hockey 2012-13: Hockey East Here We Come

Big weekend for Huskies. Upset of Warriors.
With two more classes of scholarship players inducted into the Huskies program, they will do just fine when they enter HE. Maybe not a winning conference record, but enough wins to be able to build on and get fully competitive in five years or so.

Be nice to see UConn build on this weekend and put together a couple of wins. Bentley this weekend then 2 with Air Force coming up should all be good tests.

Nicely done, Huskies!! Good win over AFA. Now let's close the deal and make it a sweep for a four point weekend.

Topeka Roadrunners start commits to UCONN.

Sounds like he was thinking about going with Red at Michigan.

It sounds more like was going to be give up on the dream and go to UMich (maybe try to walk on at best) and then went to the NAHL to see if he could get a scholarship offer from a lesser school. If he was getting recruited by Berensen he wouldn't have been looking at Uconn.

Anyone hear anything on Coach Marshall? Last I heard was that President Herbst mentioned him in passing saying that she had heard from the AD that he might be back for the tournament. Here's hoping his recovery has been going well.

Re: UCONN Hockey 2012-13: Hockey East Here We Come

Saw my first UConn game of the season tonight. I was actually impressed with their speed. It was pretty obvious that they were out to solve their recent scoring woes. I counted all three forwards down low beneath the goal line on multiple occasions. And on more than a couple occasions they gave up odd man rushes as a result. But their seven goals must have felt good. Think they will have to play a bit more conservatively against Mankato tomorrow though. MN State looked pretty good tonight. Their first game on NHL sized ice in awhile according to a parent who sat next to us. He thought they were taking some time to adjust.

Left after the second period with the game well in hand. It was dumping outside, a skier's dream. Awfully slippery greasy snow which required much care on the drive home. Wish I was a couple more weeks down the road from the rotator cuff. I would be skiing tomorrow. Hanging out in a hockey rink is a close second though.

On another topic, I did hear that Coach Marshall is not back. No ETA yet either. He is in our thoughts this coming New Year. Get well soon, Bruce!!

Thanks for the update. I was planning to go Saturday but decided against it when my snow blower threw a pin and no longer threw...had planned to go on Sunday but an event originally scheduled for Saturday got moved to Sunday because of the weather...Oh well, hoping to catch a Penn State game this weekend.

I did have one question, though...I saw Grogan started both games. Anyone know what was up with that? I don't think he started 2 games all last year. Sounds like he played well though.

Re: UCONN Hockey 2012-13: Hockey East Here We Come

They are going with the hot hand, I guess. Grogan started a couple before the break too, didn't he?

Re: UCONN Hockey 2012-13: Hockey East Here We Come

Did they announce at your tournament who next year's opponents will be?
Hmm, no, I don't think so. And they usually do. I will look in the program tonight. Anxious for another shot after last year's disaster?

I am anxious to introduce this data into the master schedule I unofficially maintain from year to year.
