Gscott, where did you see/hear that about greg brown? Haven't heard anything that concrete on the situation.
+1I am hardly unbiased. But the Huskies couldn't get a better guy. You look at his record at DU and you'll understand. The team GPA's on those two NC teams were in the 3.4-3.5 range. DU annually had more all-academic performers than anyone in the WCHA. He recruits high character guys, who won't embarrass their team or their university. And he makes certain those players live up to his high expectations. He wins games. Lots of them. He leaves DU with the longest active streak of 20 win seasons, 12. And 6 consecutive NC$$ tournament appearances. He restored DU to excellence after a long period where the program was ignored. And all DU fans will forever be grateful to him for that. You could do worse than George Gwozdecky, way worse.
+1
Hope your AD and administration will appreciate the CLASS Gwoz would bring to your program.
So your thinking its narrowed down between Gwoz and Berard? I wonder if an offer was made this weekend? If Gwoz is the one, he could demonstrate that class by retaining David Berard as Associate Head Coach with a nice bump in compensation. He deserves it.

The Edsall staff members retained have not been Pasquoloni's problem. His problem has been George DeLeone and Pasquoloni himself. Trying to implement a pro offense with mid major talent on that side of the ball. Crazy. HCPP will be gone after this year anyway, and when that happens I will happily renew my season tickets on the 50 yard line for another year. The only thing that kept me here this year were the Michigan and Maryland games. If Gwoz is in fact the choice...I think he should be allowed to pick his staff. If he decides to retain Berard that will be good...give program some continuity. Hathaway pushed the members of Edsall's staff who remained on Pasqualoni when he made that hire. I for one thought that hamstrung Pasqualoni. I don't want to see this happen again...and I get the feeling Manuel will do this hire the right way. I will definitely be surprised if Gwoz doesn't get the job.
A bunch of my friends are former players...one of their teamates was on Edsall's staff...followed him to MD...he had a meeting with Hathaway in which he was told face to face that since contracts for the staff had been renewed anyone who stayed when new coach was hired would basically be retained for one year. I think that the way Manuel has conducted this search for hockey coaches is an indication that he will do a very good job replacing Pasqualoni. The Edsall staff members retained have not been Pasquoloni's problem. Agree. He does know a thing or two about football, having played at Michigan. Not sure that Hathaway ever knew anything about FB. I would also not be surprised to see Manuel and his counterpart at BC (also a Michigan FB alum) bring back the UConn-BC series. BC, UMass, and UConn should play each other each year, full stop.I think that the way Manuel has conducted this search for hockey coaches is an indication that he will do a very good job replacing Pasqualoni.

But before all that, cannot wait for this coaching announcement.
If Gwoz gets the job, he will bring in Miller as his Associate Head Coach
But I could see him offering Beard a 1 yr. deal as an assistant
I don't believe Miller is coming with. Time to move out of Gwoz's shadow. Look for Miller's name to come up in connection with some USHL GM/Coach opportunities.![]()
My horse is Cavanaugh, by a nose. I'm a BC follower, so somewhat bias, but Mike Cavanaugh has been recruiting the best talent for 18 years. He is discredited because the head coach's noteriety and BC's tradition, but there's a reason York brought him down from Dartmouth one year into the BC job. Prior to BC, Cav was a G.A. for York at BGSU and we all know how good of a talent evaluater Jerry York is, right? If Cavanaugh was not the best recruiter in the land the last 18 years, he's top 5.
You'll get a passionate leader, a respectful and respected campus figure head and a guy who knows what it takes to build a winning program.
Not in a million years, unless someone from Hockey east opr BC is pushing them to. Thery are known to do that, just like they tried to push other recent Hoceky East hirings to stay in league and go with an assistant. They didnt listen and look at great job Lowell and PC have done. No way they take Cav.
A 2 year old with a spinning hat on could have done same job recruiting at BC. Name one player they got who was an unknown that didnt want to go there? To the contrary, look at past 2 years when they needed a couple walk on types to step up, didnt happen and it blew up in their face.
Gwoz or DB, hope they pair up
