UConn at RPI, 10/18/19 - the rematch

Re: UConn at RPI, 10/18/19 - the rematch

I guess my brief hot streak starting these threads is over. :(

Hope whoever starts tomorrow's thread can start a hot streak of his own.

Re: UConn at RPI, 10/18/19 - the rematch

The good - we did not get shut out (although we played like we should have)
The bad - where do I start? Totally out skated by a team that was one or two steps faster all night. Beaten to almost every puck and odd man rushes brought about by their offensive speed and our delayed reactions to it. Other than winning the third period on the score sheet, any optimism I had gathered from last weekend was reversed.

Just have to now hope for a split weekend and winning tomorrow.

Could not agree more. I was hoping that Marshall was going to be the goaltender that he was in his freshman year. He was beaten 3 times over the shoulder and once through the five hole. Still gives up way too many rebounds to boot. Looks like we’re going to be leaning on Savory a lot this year. Just an overall disappointing effort for a home opener.

Absolute dog**** game from the team. Puck watching in our own end and in the neutral zone. Neutral zone puck watching led to many odd-man rushes. Where did the team from last week go? 3rd period was better but still not that great. Shane Bear was directly responsible for 2 of the goals by my count when he was puck watching and should be benched. I don't know why Babichuk has sat the last 2 games; he has looked very good to me. Sure hope he plays instead of Bear tomorrow. Hopefully this will be a wake-up call for the team and they'll come out hot against a weak Canisius team tomorrow.
