UConn 2013-2014: Let the Cavanaugh Era Begin

The upcoming UCONN Tournament will be interesting. UMASS-Amherst, the only HE team involved has already been completely dismantled by QU 6-1 this past November. I was at the game in Hamden and did a lot of celebrating.

UCONN and SHU still have a lot of improving to do. Quinnipiac and Yale reign supreme in Connecticut and are real contenders for the national championship again this year.

UCONN will improve once in Hockey East but that does not mean much. QU has been undefeated against HE in every game for the last two years. Yale also has a winning record against HE in the last two years while beating the best of HE in last year's NCAA Tournament. (ECAC Hockey League Teams went undefeated in last year's tourney against all other conferences while only losing to other ECAC teams).

The excitement, fan support, and level of competition of QU and Yale hockey is on a whole other level than UCONN and SHU.

Agreed. I think that UConn is going to need a real on campus arena if they want long term success for the program. I'm not sure how well they will draw at the XL Center starting next year.

UMass has shown some significant improvement since that night in Hamden. They cannot be taken lightly and will obviously be out for redemption on the 29th. To be honest, with the way the past few weeks went, any one of these 4 teams can win this tourney.

The first game back from an extended break always scares me.

Re: UConn 2013-2014: Let the Cavanaugh Era Begin

you would have to have Yale and Q in it for a western team to even think about coming i would think, but then again, The Three Rivers Classic got BC to go when the others involved are Robert Morris, Bowling Green and Penn St
Oh I don't know. As a Hockey East member UConn would be an attractive opponent. Add an ECAC member and you could have a pretty decent field. I get the concept of making it an Statewide event, or even a repeat of the current mix of teams if Yale isn't available. I think it might need to wait a bit though.

This is not good...the presumption of innocence should be there but. Is this around the time Coach Marshall stepped aside? Wondered if this had anything to do w/ his departure?

The way the school handled it sure reeks of guilt. If they knew the athlete was innocent they'd likely fight it, rather than kick her off the team and try to force her out the door. Stay classy, UCONN.

Yeah, if true that is disgusting... Did any player get kicked out in that timeframe

Sort of reeks---similar to the Bad Boyz of BU.

Re: UConn 2013-2014: Let the Cavanaugh Era Begin

based on what? their coach was an assistant at BC? come on man!

No no no... you see Hockey East is like the SEC in football... just having that patch on your jersey means you are amazing and everyone wants to play you!

As you can see, everyone is tripping over themselves to schedule Merrimack, Umass Amherst, and Northeastern.

Anyway, Merry Christmas to all of you... Butchie I hope Santa brings you a nice old football fob from the roaring 20s. Sorry 'bout that 4-star Daz just wrangled out of the Nutmeg State. :D

Yea Diaco is going to sway this kid to go play football at Yukon. If this kid doesn't go to BC he sure as hell isn't going to go play in the AAC for another one of those Notre dame chumps like Diaco (look Molnar just got fired today... Won't be long before the luster is off of Diaco at another truly terrible New England job). What exactly IS the selling point to this kid? Play in an easier conference and maybe get recognized more? Stay closer to home is about the only thing and BC isn't exactly far from home in CT. The kid is committed to a better school in a better conference to a better coach. I hope you keep waiting on him to flip like you guys wait on Delaney to call. It's funnier than watching you guys just figure out how hopeless it is there. At least you have nags hoops!

Wow when did BC become good at football? Must have been the 6 FBS wins over schools with a combined 27-45 record. LOL

Doesn't take much to set you off, does it Carmine?

The two Hockey East teams (UCONN and UMASS) are in the UCONN Tournament's consolation game tomorrow. (I do realize UCONN is Atlantic but they will be HE next year).

Not sure that I understand your point. The lone HE representative, UMass, tied QU (the number 8 team in the nation) then lost a post-game shootout to determine who advanced in the tournament. UConn then beat UMass 2-1 in the consolation. The other AHA team, SHU, beat UConn and is in the process of losing to QU in the championship. Anyone who knows anything about the AHA knows that SHU is capable of beating any team in the league. So while it might not have been exactly a formful result, it wasn't unusual. And UConn beating UMass is not a surprise either.

I have two points actually. First, HE is not that good. The ECAC Hockey League continues to reign supreme. Second, UCONN should stick to basketball. Thanks for the trophy.

QU got a TIE against the 9th place team (2-7-2) in HE.
Hockey East is 16-11-4 vs the ECAC this season (.581 win %).
Hockey East against everyone else... LINK

What's your point again?
