UAH plans to stay Division I

Re: UAH plans to stay Division I

We still have a lot of work to do, but...

Re: UAH plans to stay Division I

congrats... forward progress. Might be the best christmas present a Beav fan could have when you come up to visit is the continuation of the rivalry. I wish you well in this endeavor.

He isn't the only one. JDUBBS is just the only one that said something. Arguing with Dirty is pointless whether he is being serious or not. Not to mention the irony in some his posts is so hilarious, it should just be left alone. I don't blame JDUBBS for trying though.

Again, Dirty has never been serious. Ever. I'm not 100% convinced he's not a BC fan and just pulling off the greatesr ongoing joke of alltime

Re: UAH plans to stay Division I

I'm so happy to know that JDUBBS and wes are here to defend the board from Dirty's evil shenanigans. Where were they when he got me a speeding ticket on Highway 2?!?!?!?!

Re: UAH plans to stay Division I

It wouldn't surprise that if UAH's program is revived, they would still not play in 2012-13.

This is a good point, and I haven't noticed any discussion on it. Notice that the university said that they would work to "bring back" the program. They didn't say "keep".

I suspect their budget is already irretrievably gone for 2012, and that the VBCC has started to book programs that preclude many home dates for UAH Charger men's D-1 hockey. Besides, most conferences are deep into scheduling for next year, and would have a major problem fitting in Huntsville. A big donor or a chunk of cash might allow them to skate by (heh) in 2012-13, but a complete reboot might also be in their future.

Re: UAH plans to stay Division I

Great news for Charger fans. I am happy for you. Hope the comeback is permanent and that you don't end up revisiting this in a couple seasons.

Re: UAH plans to stay Division I

Well, we said we'd pony up if they didn't kill it. They've at least given us an opportunity to put up or shut up. I'm cutting a check this week. They keep their end of the bargain and I'll keep cutting checks every year.

Re: UAH plans to stay Division I

****it, what do I do with my UAH 1979-2012 t-shirt now? :p

Put it on a life-sized mannequin with a face made out to look like Mack Portera, then come behind the mannequin, wearing a UAH jersey, holding a knife, poised to knife Portera in the "2012" region.

Wait, that's been done in reverse...

Congrats Charger fans!

www.saveuahhockey.com says that more merchandise will be available in the coming weeks. Is anything new coming in time for Christmas? Obviously saving the program is the real Christmas present, but a celebratory t-shirt or hoodie would be nice too.:)

Geof, any info?

Re: UAH plans to stay Division I

Has he been given the green light to schedule ACHA Div. 1 games or NCAA Div. 1 games? It just said games so I am wondering if it is kind of a mix bag. They really should try and get in a conference.

I don't know what Will is planning to pull off merchandise-wise. I think we probably want to get all the agreements signed before we do anything.

As for scheduling, the USCHO story by Matt Mackinder quotes Coach Luongo as saying that the school has given him permission to schedule Division I games for 2012-13.

Any thoughts on what conference the Chargers could join? WCHA, Atlantic Hockey or is it possible we could still see that new conference start up with those AHA schools that want 18 scholarships along with maybe BGSU and Buffalo if they get a program started up?

More than sensible, especially after everything you guys have been through. I'll stay tuned. When you guys are ready, I'll be ready. Thanks for the reply.

"In our System, the responsibility for intercollegiate athletics is a campus matter."

Says the man that fundamentally altered the UAH intercollegiate athletics department just days before a new president was to take office.

Says the man that who's board of trustees will not allow UAB to build its own on-campus football stadium.
