UAH Hockey 2014-15: The 30th Varsity Season

Re: UAH Hockey 2014-15: The 30th Varsity Season

I feel like we should steal Georgia Tech's line: "What's the good word?" "To hell with Bemidji!"

I love it. I LOVE IT.

Why not? "Who Hates Huntsville" is just a rip-off of Minnesota's "Who Hates Iowa." ;)

Will you be able to access the Lakeland TV feed down there in Huntsville? They do a great job. Very fair. Best series of the year in my opinion. Good luck.

That's what gets pushed out on WCHA.tv. I agree — they do a great job.

Wow do they play similarly. One of your guys hit the boards and seemed to really get his shoulder wracked up. I hope he's just bruised. Good game and looking forward to tomorrow. Do you think you will play the other goalie? My guess is Walsh will be in our net tomorrow.

I wonder if Salhany will be okay after that a$s-over-teakettle tumble that he took to avoid Bitzer. I'm not sure that Kestner made the trip — I think that he's banged up, but that's just based on ice time.

As for goaltending: I honestly don't know. Carmine got screened an awful lot tonight, and that's not as much of a problem for Matty. Carmine was getting frustrated tonight to be sure, and he wasn't as sharp as he usually is. Matt got his lone win last season in Bemidji, and Corbs may give him a crack at it. Matt struggles on the PK: three PPGA in his last start against Alaska, and another three against USAFA for a tie that, in my mind, cost him his spot in the tandem. But he's done well with a high volume of shots (37 sv in that Alaska loss against no offense for the Chargers). How hard has he been busting it practice? We'll find out tomorrow. He deserves a shot if he's stayed ready.

Re: UAH Hockey 2014-15: The 30th Varsity Season

Okay, so the thing to me about this team is that they have only had a real stinkeroo of a weekend twice this year: the BG series at home and Bemidji. Either we have a good/great Friday night and rebound the next night, or we absolutely stink up the joint and bounce back the next night (say, Lake State at home). But the boys were on this run where they'd only had one stinker in six (the 4-0 Alaska loss after finals), with the rest being one-goal games (and the Omaha tie).

And then that. Little help for either goal, no spark on offense, blah.

I'm so glad they're home this weekend, although it won't be any easier to get that offensive spark with Dahlstrom in net.

Yeah, but he's been banged up and gave up 7GA to Tech on the weekend. Carmine will have to be on top of it to out-duel him this time. I'm guessing CG35 gets both starts, since this season has shown us that Larose will give up four goals a game, regardless of opponent (save the Air Force tie).

Right, and scoring four is still a tall order. Now I'm really wondering if Uhelski moves up to No. 2 for the next time we need to spell Carmine.

I think that you might as well give him a shot. Clearly they're impressed enough to take him on roadies right now and dress him. Him sitting in the box last weekend was pretty funny.

My gosh, this "home ice advantage" thing's kind of nice!

First four game home win streak since UAH won 10 straight in 2006.

LET'S GO CHARGERS!
