UAH Hockey 2013-14: Feeling like a real D-I program again

Re: UAH Hockey 2013-14: Feeling like a real D-I program again

Upon first glance, I think he's got to sit. Either way, I think he's only got two years of eligibility for you guys.

Hmm, yeah, I see that. The five-year clock ends in '16.

I finally got to spend around an hour with Corbett. I'll save my commentary for the article on uahhockey.com, but he had a lot of smart things to say.

I couldn't get a commitment out of Mike, but I'm fairly sure that between what he told me today and what he said in the media call yesterday that Brice Geoffrion will be our next captain, which breaks the streak of two-year defenseman captains. I think that Brice would be an excellent selection.

Speaking of the brothers, Seabass will play for the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL this year. fangers, I expect updates.

I don't make it to as many weekend games anymore (duh), but I try to get to as many weeknight games as I can. I'll send along updates, no problem.

Re: UAH Hockey 2013-14: Feeling like a real D-I program again

Happened upon the UAH schedule and noticed this oddity.

You guys have a non-conference series with both Notre Dame and Northeastern this season and you're playing in an "early" season tournament that also involves both those teams, besides?

How/why did that happen?

Pretty cool that you also get a visit from one of last year's Frozen Four teams, too.

Watching the fortunes of war for UAH hockey this year is going to be one of the interesting story lines of this upcoming season, in my book. Good luck to you guys this season!

Re: UAH Hockey 2013-14: Feeling like a real D-I program again

We get four exempted games in Alaska, and that gives us a lot of openings. We already had some games lined up for this season anyway in case we were still independent. We'll see a lot of HEA teams this year, which is strange for us. The only way that you can play more than 38 games is to also play in one of the exempted tournaments, but I'm not sure how we could pull that off. There are only two real off-weeks in the schedule.

We get SCSU because of Nic Dowd. Motzko promised him he'd schedule us; this is the back half of a home-and-home.

Re: UAH Hockey 2013-14: Feeling like a real D-I program again

Pumped to see Max McHugh give us the commit today. Huge to see another U Show guy comin down to Alabama. Just shows how far the program has come. Will be following him closely. Could be our first real bluechip of the new era. http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=99592

Also, saw a pic of the new away jersey on twitter, but when will be see the new home ones?

Lastly, any updates on how the team is looking? Line combos? Good freshmen who will make a quick impact?

Brice told me that Allan - Soquila - Brears should be the scoring line that we've lacked in the last few years.

Happy to get a commitment out of McHugh. Hopefully we'll keep seeing the commitments coming this fall and early winter. That's a strong sign for the program.

The last that I heard, Athletics was looking to go away from the Broncos logo to something else.

The last that I heard, Athletics was looking to go away from the Broncos logo to something else. I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being the horseshoe with the new UAH logo inside of it.

Or maybe the horseshoe is something generic until they come up with something permanent. I'm a little surprised...I thought they preferred the Broncos lookalike. I'd be fine with a new logo, as long as it's not some minor-league, bulked-up anthropomorphic horse-man silliness (like this).

So I'm guessing that you don't like the Barrie Colts' logo, either. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...olts_Logo.svg/200px-Barrie_Colts_Logo.svg.png
