UAH Hockey 2012-13: Still breathing

Re: UAH Hockey 2012-13: Still breathing

I'm excited. We all know that we wanted an alumnus — and we were arguing for Lance West over John McCabe because Lance has more D-I experience (but not by a ton). We would've been happy with either one of them. I'm happy with Corbett. It's how I thought that we'd get based on his pedigree and apparent willingness to be here. I fully expect that he'll be here for a long time — both Dr. Altenkirch and Dr. Brophy expressed that strongly to me.

Welcome Mike!

A good hire for UAH hockey. He was a great candidate for the UAA job and when he was not hired I was hoping he would get the UAH position. Congrats to UAH and their new hockey coach.

My first text was to Gavin about that very fact. [And Westy, if you're reading, I know that I owe you a call.]

Corbett is going to have his work cut out in placating the alumni. I support him 100%, though.

I pressed Dr. Brophy for specifics on the length of Corbett's contract. I think that he needs a five-year deal, and this fan base deserves a five-year deal.

Re: UAH Hockey 2012-13: Still breathing

Mike is retaining Gavin (not a surprise since they played together) and Tim. He says that he's going to talk to Bruce about staying, but I'd be surprised if he did unless he wants to be the full-time talent scout and let Gavin be home more and helping run practices. I don't know who else from the Frank Serratore Coaching Tree is out there to become an AC.

Good Selection UAH! I think he will do well for you. Any word on his salary? Curious what UAH was willing to pony up.

I wonder if He ever was offered a job at UAA?

Now if he applied for the job, and were offered the job at UAA, after publicly remaining in for the second round, why would he turn it down? UAH had barely begun their search and had not yet even talked to George Gwozdecky when Matt Thomas was named UAA coach.
