Re: UAA Seawolves offseason thread- time for change

Denver newspaper says with incentives and outside income he gets north of 1/2 million

Re: UAA Seawolves offseason thread- time for change

That's about the only possible way. I don't really know how'd I'd handle him being coach to be honest, I have not liked him for soooooooooo many years.

If it were to happen, i'd forget about the shenanigans in the past.

Besides its most likely not going to happen

Re: UAA Seawolves offseason thread- time for change

Ouch. We'd never be able to pony up that sort of dough save for a miracle. The search continues. :)

Re: UAA Seawolves offseason thread- time for change

Shyiak never ran a summer camp due to the limited market which the Aces have a strangle hold on. We're lucky to have a Coaches TV show hosted by the school. No money there. What's the Govenors Cup bonus pay? Is it $2000 or $2500. Chump change when trying to get to $500000. Final 5 incentive is worth what in our market? I'm a dyed in the wool Seawolve fan. Do Seawolves have wool? But when talking financials I try to be a realist, not a pessimist, just a realist and we don't have the big market here to support 1/2 million dollar coaches. Anybody know an alum that can build us a rink? I ask cause it sure doesn't look like the Regents or State are interested in doing it. A good coach who can recruit to our existing facilities and I'll just enjoy watching the best amateur hockey on the globe.
Go Seawolves!

Wasn't Gwozdecki one of the leading proponents of dumping the "small" (I say small because DU is hardly a national powerhouse institution) WCHA schools in favor of the nchc? If so...karma.

UAA would have to get much closer - and probably exceed - Donald's proposed $300,000 offer.

If he was clearing a half mil in Denver he won't come to Anchorage for less than that, unless the school commits itself to a major facilities upgrade and possibly relocates itself somewhere east of the Rockies. I don't see any of those possibilities happening.

They're probably talking base. His base at DU was $221K, IIRC

Re: UAA Seawolves offseason thread- time for change

I just wanted to add that i thought Shyiak handled his departure with grace and class.

Live by back room deals...Die by back door deals.
plus He refused to come and Talk at a Coach's Luncheon....... too busy...maybe I should call him next season he might have the time.

He did, I wish him luck, I'm sure he'll be coaching somewhere else soon. Does anyone think that Blair might apply for the job?

Re: UAA Seawolves offseason thread- time for change

Brent Baltus has changed his commitment to Michigan Tech.

Re: UAA Seawolves offseason thread- time for change

How many recruits bail on us probably depends on who the new coach is. The unknown on whether Blair and Jindra will be here sure doesn't help the situation. Need to get the new coach in here yesterday. The longer we go coachless and with big uncertainties the more the program suffers.

Re: UAA Seawolves offseason thread- time for change

And that doesn't even start to address how many of our players may jump ship. Sure hope the new coach is able to retain all of our guys.

we got room in the budget for him let's see....... looked up the 2010-2011 budget for UAA hockey $506,054.00
..............................................................also looked up the 2010-2011 budget for UAF hockey $1,279,386.00
The University of Alaska Regents are a evenhanded and fair cluster who are looking out for all the students of Alaska ....... just look at the numbers

Re: UAA Seawolves offseason thread- time for change

Oh my goodness, some of you are seriously talking about Gwoz coming to UAA. Wow, you guys are more deluded than I thought.
