UAA Announces 4 games at Sullivan Arena this year.

Seawolf 5th Line strives to build up UAA’s hockey program

The nonprofit is helping bring the Seawolves back to Sullivan Arena for the last games of this season, and hope to see an expanded state-of-the-art facility built on campus.

This will be the first time the Seawolves have played in the Sully since February 2019. The games will be against Fairbanks on Feb 6/7 and Feb 20/21

UAA starts the season 0-2 following a sweep by Bemidji. We lost 2-9 in game 1, and 0-5 in game 2.

Its tough to watch when the seawolves are playing from behind. I was hoping we would at split the series, but we couldn't get any offense going.

Goalie Bryant Marks looked okay. The seawolves travel to Saint Cloud on October 24-25. I will be there wearing Green + Gold if there are any other seawolf fans there.

Seawolves drop to 0-4 following two losses to St Cloud. In both games the Seawolves were down after the first period, and didn't really show any signs of life. Next week they travel to Denver to play the 3-2-1 Pioneers. The schedule gets mildly easier following this series when the Seawolves travel to the east coast to play Bentley, Stonehill and Brown on Dec 14 - 19th.

Tough to see UAA struggle with all the distance they have to travel for road games. Might have to make the drive to see them vs Bentley or Stonehill.

Big win over Denver on Friday. The Seawolves move to 1-5, following the weekend split. Its always nice to see an upset against a ranked team.

Following a series split over Bentley last weekend and a win over Stonehill last night the Seawolves are 3-6. Tonight they play Brown. The Seawolves are starting to play with a little momentum after the upset over Denver a few weeks ago.

Seawolves are 3-11 heading into the break. The three wins are coming against Denver, Bentley, and Stonehill. It would be nice to get at least another 3 wins by the end of the season, but I am not holding my breath.

Ticket sales may have been lighter than usual, or maybe they want to get as many fans in as possible. Either way, it will be cool to see fans back in the Sully.

Do any UAA fans actually want to stay on campus long term? Can’t imagine there’s many who would NOT support a move back to the Sully.

Yes, I want a new on campus arena. I'd rather stay in the Sports Complex, I've gone to a few Wolverines games and the atmosphere is still abysmal, but hey they have the majority of the jumbotron working now.... Aside from a row or two behind the home bench and Lester it reminds me of 4K UAA fans (saw it dwindle to maybe 500 towards the end) just sitting on their hands during the game. Parking still sucks, piss troughs, popcorn only on the dry side, bad sightlines, the Sully is still a dump.

After a quick google search, you are right - looks like alumni, donors, and students/faculty received an email asking "Would you support a move to Sullivan Arena".

I am a Mankato student, so I don't have an opinion on if the Sullivan would be preferred over their current rink. I know they previously had issues filling the 6,200 seats, but then again their current rink only seats 800.

A packed 700 seat space is much better than 1-3k spread out in the concrete tomb and there are not having a beer garden like the Wolverines, an actual goal horn is nice though.

Looking forward to finally watching some in person hockey. 3 months since the last NCAA game in Fairbanks and now we won’t leave the state until heading to St. Louis in March. Hard to know what to expect between these teams, except that it will be a fun hard fought 8 games. UAF has played 18 games against teams in the top 29 and a single game against everyone else. We will see if that difficult first half of the season will turn into success back in Alaska.

I am glad to have the governors cup games back at the Sullivan this year from a visiting fan perspective. It’s nice to have space and an area where UAF fans can sit together. Not only that but with small children it’s nice to have individual seats and room to walk around. But I can understand for regular games staying on campus. Atmosphere is a big part of the game. Anchorage needs a medium size arena, on campus would be great of course.
