U19/U16 2011 National Championships - Detroit

Re: U19/U16 2011 National Championships - Detroit

I believe Assabet won one title last year as well.

To your point, yes I think there is more parity and more choices for players around Assabet land.

Over the past few years, Assabet lost a number of disenchanted players who would have made up the core of this year's U19 team. As a result, management decided to place a number of U16 eligible players (7??) on the U19 team. The U16s ended up equally young. The U19s did not make it out of States and the U16s lost in the National playoffs. Looking back, probably a bad management decision to end up with two young, weaker teams if National championships is the goal.

That being said, the organization won the U12s and the U14s lost in OT in the National finals. I think most organizations would be happy with that.

Ok so by disenchanted you mean, players who wouldn't have made the top team so they left. The core of the team???? After the 2009-2010 season 3 players left. One player left to play her last season of club hockey with her high school line mates. A good player who would have played on the 19 Reds for sure. The other 2 players would not have played at the top level this season or next and they knew that. A decision that was in the best interest of both of those players. I give them credit for making it. Not seeing your core statement?
A win and a runner up. Truely an off year by Assabet standards but a lofty goal for the rest of Mass.
