Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Wait, what? Really?

Man, I will never understand people's fascination with zombies.

I can understand the "lack" of a Mad Men audience. It's rather slow-paced (not for everyone), and I'm sure many people (like me) started watching it via (insert video service) after hearing so many good things about it. Added to that, with the hit shows AMC has had, people were probably thinking that TWD would be just as good, due to AMC's recent history. Boom, instant audience.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

I'm not a big fan of zombie shows, but gave The Walking Dead a chance just because its on AMC, and I think its great. Its not the zombies that make it a good show, they're just there.

Yeah, I'm just now finishing the first season via Netflix. I like it, but it is what it is - a primetime soap cleverly disguised with decent acting, a period setting, and a believable plot.

Anybody else watching Boardwalk Empire? Holy **** you do NOT want to cross Manny.

I still have the first season DVR'd, and I just can't get into it. I am 3 episodes into it and I have no motivation to continue watching. I guess I've given up on it. Now I don't have that channel, so I couldn't watch any episodes after the first season if I wanted to.

I just watched the first two episodes last night. Amazing!

Once you get past that whole "dead people walking around" bit.

I'll warn you now, as I just about gave up after 2 seasons: the first 3 to 3.5 seasons are just buildup. It really starts to take off after that. I can't wait until the new season. You know the characters very well, their habits, faults, backgrounds, etc. It's like you know them in real life because of how in-depth the show went (and one of the reasons it seems slow).

Survivor last night: Goodbye Cochran. That's what you get for not making another move at 9. And what was up with Albert pulling a Yau-man and giving up the reward? Buying Cochran's vote at the end? You have to get there first, though.

Cochran proclaimed to be an expert, but wasn't. He played very badly. I don't think that the "fans" that get on the show really are paying attention.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Survivor is still on TV? I thought that stupid fad was over 5 years ago.
It passed fad stage 5 years ago. This is the technical term.

The thing that amazes me about Survivor (other than that Peachy still wants to do it... dude, come on, move that career along) is there are apparently still people who go to all the effort of getting on the show but still do not appear to have a shred of understanding of the basic strategy. Hence people isolate themselves, fail to make alliances, grouse, make themselves easy targets, and then whine about how they never got a chance.

As opposed to, say, Zombies?

You watch your evening soap operas, others watch people doing stupid people tricks.

They are stupid to someone.

Must be nice living in that glass house.

I didn't mean to offend the Survivor fanboys...in fact I'm stunned that they exist. I actually didn't know that Survivor is still on TV until it was mentioned in here a couple weeks ago. I thought it was cancelled a while ago. I would normally agree on zombies, I generally don't like zombie shows/movies.
