Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Once Upon a Time still good. Hope the ratings stay up. I have Grimm DVR'ed. Heard that was good.
I watched the first 2 episodes of Once Upon a Time yesterday and I didn't really care for it. It isn't bad, but really it just isn't my kinda thing. Since I already have too many shows that I'm following, I'm going to take Once Upon a Time off the DVR schedule.

Also, what is the deal with American Horror Story? Why are there multiple new episodes every week? I saw at least 2 new episodes this week.

I really like it. It could be edgier I suppose, but it's on regular TV at 7 so I'm sure there going for family type audience. Grimm is supposed to be edgier.

I didn't watch American Horror Story. I have a feeling that I wished I did but my plate is full as well.

Grimm has potential. It's kind of setting itself up as a cross between the L&O universe and Psych. If it keeps its dark edge ala L&O:SVU, it'll probably be good. If it turns into more of a paranormal buddy cop show, then it'll probably jump the shark quickly.

The Friday timeslot isn't the best. If it does ok, I would hope that next season NBC moves it into a Tuesday or Wednesday slot formerly used by the L&O's.

Haven't seen the 2nd episode of OUAT yet...I play hockey sunday nights so the wife and I are catching it on Hulu+ tonight, probably after HIMYM.

Re-watched Californication S3 to re-acquaint myself with the storylines. Can't wait until S4 shows up this week. I've seen the first 3 eps, but it's been so long I don't recall the details, so it should be like a new experience. What a great show.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Anyone else watching Misfits? Good first ep of the new season, but the new guy is no Nathan.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Also, watched the 2nd episode of Once Upon a Time last night...we both agreed that there are going to be issues about how long it can last as an actual series. Right now there are essentially 4 characters with everyone else being scenery, and the entire series is revolving around the boy. It really needs to open up some new doors and side plots, starting with rumplestiltskin. More info on the sheriff would be nice, too, since we have no idea of his lineage from fairy tale land (if he even has any). Right now it seems like something that would've been better done as a lengthy miniseries than an continuing drama.

HIMYM was disappointing outside of the Barney plot. Can't believe the slutty pumpkin plotline was wasted for a one-off appearance that bad.

Is "New Girl" any good?

It's okay but I'd put it below Whitney, which may not be a good thing. Scary how Zoey is exactly like her character on the show after seeing her on Craig Ferguson last night.

You better watch it Tweedle Dee might get mad at ya :p (j/k/ TD!) I agree the Slutty Pumpkin was rather dumb and pointless. Marshall and Lilly were just downright annoying all episode.

The Barney stuff was funny, especially the end when American Barney was fighting Canadian Barney :)

I strongly disagree with this. New Girl was average, but at least has a story it is trying to tell. Whitney is just moves from point to point as an excuse to tell bits of her stand-up act, which are all just, "Women are so different from men because they have VAGINAS and FEELINGS, amirite ladies?" Replace women with black people and you have the worst Def Comedy Jam ever.

I don't know why people expected the Slutty Pumpkin to be anything more than a one-off. It was just like Victoria earlier this season; tying up a loose end so we can start heading towards the ending. That said, it was a fairly meh episode, which is kind of what HIMYM has settled into. A few laughs here and there, but nothing special.

Rubicon was excellent and I still hate that bull**** zombie show for playing a role in it's demise--not that I would have likely watched anyway. A second season of Rubicon might have been difficult though, since they were running out of places that story could go.

The lesson to take from this is women are crappy comedians and there should be a law preventing them from performing comedy. I hope people don't feel I'm going too far here.

You just encapsulated 90% of all comediennes' stand-up acts in history, and the other 10% is the "I'm going to shock you with my frankness" shtick that explicitly plays off it.

You're not funny, ladies. I'm sorry. I know this is not something you want to hear. There is a good reason for it.

Black dudes have vaginas?

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Pan Am may be lightweight fluff, and there's something weird looking about Christina Ricci, but damm can she fill out one of those 60's style dresses.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Mark Hamill on Chuck = EPIC! :D
Wait, hold on, how did I not notice him at all?
You don't have to be faster than the zombies, just faster than the guy you are with.
I don't have to outrun the bear, I just have to outrun you!
The Nightman Cometh is currently on Comedy Central.

Oh, boy.
Dayman! Fighter of the Nightman! Champion of the sun! He's a master of karate and friendship for everyone!
