TV: One Person's Trash...

Re: TV: One Person's Trash...

Haven't watched S3 yet but...the "X-Men Lite" plot was just one episode in S2, people. Though given it's what everyone remembers, I suppose that makes it more of a misstep on their part.

It's true that only 1 entire episode was dedicated to that story line. However, it was sprinkled into other episodes and I recall early on after S2 was released the Duffer brothers hinted they were going to expand upon that story line for season three. I'm glad they didn't as there are plenty of X-Men/Powered people shows out there.

It is one full episode but shows up elsewhere. It was stupid and a complete waste of time. (plus all the actors sucked including Millie Bobby Brown trying to look hardcore)

One episode to go and I am watching it tonight. This season is exactly what the doctor ordered...full on Goonies to the Nth degree.

I do miss Bob Newby: Superhero though :(

Re: TV: One Person's Trash...

I still liked season 2, but yes season 3 blows it out of the water.

"Nod, if you UNDERSTAND!"

Any scene involving the Ice Cream store is better than all of season 2 :)

The last two episodes of two were very good cause they focused on the kids. The kids are what makes the show great.

Effing love Scoops Ahoy.

It also finally hit me why I enjoy Hopper so much. He's my dad. My dad wasn't a cop or anything, but he made the same speeches to my sister's boyfriends back in the day. :D

City on a Hill?

Anyone? Must watch?

I've been watching it. I don't know that I'd call it a "must watch" but I've liked it. It's been kind of a slow build thus far. I've never been a huge Kevin Bacon fan but he's pretty good in this series.

At the beginning it just felt like Affleck was remaking his movie The Town into a cable series. I think it's worth a chance.

Re: TV: One Person's Trash...

I plan to watch City on a Hill when the season ends. I have a feeling I will want to binge it :)

Re: TV: One Person's Trash...

It still boggles my mind that Steve is probably my second favorite character right now. His friendship with Dustin is just the best :D

I'm only 2 episodes in on season 3, and I didn't realize the two became such good friends last year.

Historical Roasts (Netflix)

It's a Jeff Ross thing, so some of you will probably stop reading any further. ;) Just watched the first ep (Abe Lincoln), to see how it went. A line here and there was good, but pretty much as expected, which is a sorta kinda maybe amusing time-killer. About 30 minutes per ep, it looks like.

Re: TV: One Person's Trash...

The Anne Frank one is pretty good. The show is alright but I wouldnt go out of my way to watch it just a time killer.

Re: TV: One Person's Trash...

Well WB announced their HBO Max streaming platform which is a catch all for any and all Warner Brothers movies and TV. Netflix officially losing Friends in 2020 because of it.

"It’s still not fully clear how HBO, as a standalone service, will be differentiated from HBO Max."

That's the key for me. If the HBO Max $15 price includes HBO then it's a steal. If it doesn't include HBO then I would be sad to lose some of that content, but I wouldn't shell out for it.

The speculation is that is how they will market it... HBO alone will be $14.99. For $3-5 more you get HBO along with Friends and other TV, their whole movie catalog, possibly DC Comics stuff, etc... All the value is in that $3 upcharge....
