Re: TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

I kind of enjoyed SNL's cold open and their take on the Leno/Conan mess.

Re: TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

Maybe some of us enjoy seeing the odd things that come in there. And I'm guessing in your 3 years working in a pawn shop you didn't see some of the outlandish things they have.

Dude pawned his truck. And by truck I mean big rig. Probably don't see that every day.

you would be surprised what people tried to put into hock...my pawnshop was across the street from a rehab/homeless shelter :D

Re: TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

He's supposed to have new shows next week, but will NBC brass continue to let him blast them? As I said before, they've got to be torn...the ratings are through the roof but he's getting them by destroying NBC and Leno...it's an interesting paradigm.

I'm pretty sure Conan can say whatever and that won't be the reason people won't watch Leno when he's back on the Tonight Show.

Re: TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

OK, it's time for the Golden Globes!! Ricky Gervais is hosting. He is very funny and he is on live TV. This will be interesting.

I watched the E! Red Carpet show. It's pouring in LA. Didn't affect Mariah Carey and her yooge boobs in a low cut gown, though.

And we're off. And he's already getting it into with Steve Carrell. Jokingly, of course. Hee!

A few misfires on the red carpet, but not many. I didn't like what Sandra Bullock was wearing. Wow, Sigourney Weaver is there. She must have hopped on a plane right after SNL last night.

"Let's get on with it before NBC replaces me with Jay Leno." Heh.

Nicole Kidman out to present the first award. Is it kind of cold in there? Only one nipple at attention. Category - Supporting Actress. I believe Mo'Nique takes this. She's been the odds on favorite.

And I was right!! She looks really nice. And she is quite overcome with emotion.

Re: TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

Sofia Vegara from Modern Family and Matthew Fox from Lost out to present Best Actress in a TV Comedy. I'm assuming Edie Falco will take this. But no! Toni Collette repeats her EMMY win. Yeah, not pleased with that. I think Courteney Cox should have won. Toni Collette has no boobs. Maybe Mariah Carey can loan her some of hers.

BU alumna Alfre Woodard's daughter is this year's Miss Golden Globe. Her dad must be tall because Alfre is wee.

Re: TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

Jim Parsons from The Big Bang Theory and Lauren Graham, who has taken over for Maura Tierney in NBC's Parenthood come out to present Supporting Actor. I don't know if it's the sound or lots of alcohol, but Lauren Graham's voice sounds weird. My one pet peeve about the GGs is that for TV, they always lump comedy and drama and mini series and movies into one category. John Lithgow from Dexter beats out Michael Emerson from Lost. I am OK with that.

Why is Paul McCartney there? He's presenting Outstanding Animated Feature Film. I'm gonna go with Up. Haven't seen any of these, so it's just a guess. Maybe Coraline. Or The Princess and the Frog. Yay! I was right!! Up! I like when I'm right.

On a side note - Robert DeNiro looks old. And Mickey Rourke needs to take his hat off while inside.

Re: TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

ARod's ex out to present one of the nominated movies. The one she's in. Nine. She looks nice. The movie looks OK. I do want to see it. On HBO.

Ricky Gervais is funny. I like that they got him to host.

Felicity Huffman is on stage. She is totally screwing up her little speech about the Hollywood Foreign Press. Did she not rehearse? Because it's unlike her. She introduces the president of the HFP. He's a weaselly looking man. Tall, kind of braod, and a rodent-like face. It's a weird combo.

Neil Patrick Harris and Jane Krakowski to present Best Actor in a TV Drama. Oooh!!! Simon Baker from The Mentalist!! He's so pretty. And Jon Hamm. He's so HAWT. But he needs to lose the beard. Michael C. Hall wins it. He literally just had chemo treatments for non-hodgins lymphoma so he's wearing a ski cap. He was really awesome in Six Feet Under and when I watched the first season of Dexter when CBS aired it during the writers' strike, I liked it.

Wow, they stay out there for Best Actress in a TV Drama. Just blowing through all the TV stuff early. That bothers me. It's not all about the moves. And WOW!!! Julianna Marguilies with the upset!!! She looks fantastic. And I really enjoy The Good Wife. I could have sworn Glenn Close had this won. Nice sppech with a very nice veiled comment at NBC - how CBS believes in the 10pm drama.

NPH got hosed.

He got hosed because of the HFP's decision to combine comedy, drama, mini series and movies in the supporting actor categories for TV. I don't think that's fair at all.

Re: TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

Question raised by that Parenthood commercial:

When and where did Erika Christiansen get those boobs?

And, tough break for the state of Maine, 0-1 on the evening with Portland native Anna Kendrick's loss.

Re: TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

Harrison Ford out to present Up in the Air as one the nominated films. Either he's had a minor stroke or he's very drunk, because it sounds like he's having a hard time getting the words out. Calista looks like a ragged doll. I'd say it was due to the rain but probably not.

Ricky Gervais with a very funny dig at Paul McCartney. Hee!

Cher and Christina Aguiliera out to present Best Original Song. I think motherhood has agreed with Christina, she looks very sleek and sophisticated. The song from Crazy Heart wins, T Bone Burnett heading up to accept his award. I was wondering why the guys from U2 were there. They were nominated.

Cher and Christina stay out the to present Best Original Score. Cher has had WAY too much plastic surgery because she can't speak clearly. THe guy who scored Up wins. Hee! He says he's just thrilled because Paul McCartney said "Go Michael" when he awarded Up with the GG. Ha! Nice short speech.

Yeah Ford sounded horrible...sad :(

The McCartney line was great...the reaction of the crowd was hilarious as was his reaction to them :D
