tUMD @ CC November 6th and 7th - Pikes Sweep?

Re: tUMD @ CC November 6th and 7th - Pikes Sweep?

Exactly! You know me too well. I thought I would have some fun and bring myself down to his/her level.
Yup, sometimes you have to respond to stupidity with sarcasm. Hey, it made me laugh at least. Especially because you so clearly got under the skin of the person making the comments.

You are embarrassing us, please stop.
We know that most of the UMD fans around here are awesome. Except for a couple of the newer posters, you guys are some of the best fans on this board.

So what started this whole mess? I have yet to read how the game went from normal play to Huttle getting escorted into the locker room.
I wonder that too. Not having seen the game, I would love to hear any opinions on how this all seemed to get so out of control. Even if Schultz said something (which, as CCtig mentioned, knowing his style he likely DID say something), that usually isn't enough to cause THAT kind of reaction.

No idea really, Schultz was at center ice talking to a ref during the TV time out and Huttel came out of nowhere (I believe from off the bench). It wasn't a reaction to something that just happened, so no way to say what it may have been. Akins lost it when he got a roughing penalty (he definitely got his 2 minutes worth) for blowing up Howe. That seemed to be where everything started going downhill, so it could have been something left over from that incident. There were a lot of fights from that point so it really could have stemmed from any of those. Clearly Akins wasn't over it since he felt the need to cheap shot someone (Rapuzzi?) in the back of the head later on.

That was an absolutely epic meltdown by Huttel. Puts LeGarrette Blount's meltdown to shame. Blaming the refs for that is a joke. Akins threw 2 little tantrums too, but I'm sure it was all the refs.

Seriously? Blount punched an opposing player in the face and then tried to fight numerous Boise State fans.

What Huttel did was a HUGE overreaction but it did not involve any of what Blount did.

Replace Boise State fans with refs, stadium personnel, EMTs and police and the situation was identical. Huttel was way out of control.

Re: tUMD @ CC November 6th and 7th - Pikes Sweep?

Did he punch anyone?

Besides Stephen Schultz at center ice during the break?;)

Seriously though, when Huttel was called for his roughing penalty and was being escorted to the penalty box by the ref, I saw him shove the ref away...so no punch there. Although, I was surprised at that point that they didn't eject him. In hindsight that probably was the fault of the ref he should have been outta there at that point. Un-sportsman like conduct anyone???

When he went into the tunnel (and then charged back out) his arms were flailing about so it's quite possible one of those arms connected with a face or two of the people trying to subdue him. I noticed one of the security guards with a large scratch on his face afterwards but who knows if it actually came from Huttel or someone else in the scuffle.

Regardless, guys get thrown out from time to time for whatever reason. Most are ticked and unhappy but 99.5% of them go to the locker and deal with it. Huttel's repsonse was not 'normal'.

From there emotions were certainly running high, after Tim Hall scored his goal (the 6th of the game I believe but who's counting, right?) Akins (I think it was Akins, it was kind of hard to keep track at this point) gave him an uppercut knocking his face mask up and him down on the ice.

I'm thinking tUMD has every right to be something like the 2nd most penalized team in College hockey right now, they certainly proved it last night.
