tUMD @ CC November 6th and 7th - Pikes Sweep?

The Bulldogs make their first road trip outside of Minnesota, to face a CC team that is playing better than expected.

Game will have 7 of the top 15 goal scorers in the WCHA.

Last year UMD went undefeated against CC, hope that continues this year!

Re: tUMD @ CC November 6th and 7th - Pikes Sweep?

tUMD over powers an over confident CC team, and tUMD completes yet another sweep in Colorado Springs!! :D

Re: tUMD @ CC November 6th and 7th - Pikes Sweep?

Over confident or not...Bulldogs will still sweep! CC never plays the Bulldogs well, even in the springs!

You might want to check the record books on that one. You did well against us last year but I wouldn't say CC never plays Duluth well.

Re: tUMD @ CC November 6th and 7th - Pikes Sweep?

Doubtful. CC has no reason to be over confident. I say split.

I would have to agree here. But if we play well perhaps 3 points.

Last year was crazy for us. We were undefeated against the Sue and CC, and didn't win a game against UAA. Go figure.

I will never forgive myself for not attending the UMD sweep in the first round of WCHA playoffs. Oh well.

Re: tUMD @ CC November 6th and 7th - Pikes Sweep?

I don't have much to add. It seems that both teams are in similar positions. Both were picked by the coaches, media, and USCHO to finish in the bottom half of the league - for similar reasons. Both have started well, but many of the wins have been against teams that weren't predicted to be at the top of their leagues' standings either. A sweep from either team will bump them up in my mind from a pre-season bottom-half team to a likely home-ice team. A split seems most likely to me, and will leave many of the question marks both teams have in place.

Two thoughts I have regarding the rest of the season for CC:
Even though they've done well so far without him, the loss of Vlassopolous for the season is a significant hit.
This season will be filled with ups and downs. They're not going to stay in first place in the league standings all season. As long as they win the rest of their non conference games (or go at least 5-1) and hover near 0.500 in league play, they'll have a chance to come together at the end of the year. Getting swept this weekend wouldn't be good, but if it happens it won't be the end of the season either.

Re: tUMD @ CC November 6th and 7th - Pikes Sweep?

What's the over/under on how many more people will leave the program before this weekend?

For those of you keeping score at home:
1. Asst. Coach Mike Guentzel
2. Recruit/supposedly incoming freshman John Moore
3. Recruit Colton St. Clair
4. Hudson Stremmel
5. ????

:D

I bet the state of Colorado will be the next to leave. Then they will be the College Tigers.

That and/or the floating Tiger head seen on their video feed.

1. He hasn't been missed so far.
2. Neither has he.
3. Remains to be seen.
4. Doubt he will be missed either.
5. Bring it on. Things are going well right now. ;)

6. Vlassopolous if you count an injury as leaving the program :) (leaving the on ice program:D)

Student section!

...or was that a long time ago?

Re: tUMD @ CC November 6th and 7th - Pikes Sweep?

They never have been an asset to CC. They need a lot of work.

That might be the understatement of the year :D

I have no idea what to expect personally. I don't see a sweep for either team unless one decides not to show up. I could see 3 points for tDogs, but I'm more hoping for a split. They need to prove themselves on the road this weekend, as they have yet to do that (granted they've had one opportunity). Plus, as dave seems to freely admit- the World Arena isn't the most hotile of places to play so I think Hjelle will be alright :)
