tUMD Bulldogs 2011-2012 - Hop on tBandwagon!

Re: tUMD Bulldogs 2011-2012 - Hop on tBandwagon!

That's not entirely true, in the lounge that's in the corner above the students alcohol is served. You have to pay something like $250/year for a Bulldog Club membership to get in there though. I don't think there is a single-game entrance fee.

I love Amsoil, I think its a fantastic small arena. My only beef is the narrow closed concourse behind the press box. I would think a creative architect could have found a way to keep the concourse open all the way around.

As for the 'Dogs this season, they have so far exceeded my expectations. After a shaky start Reiter has cleaned up his play a been relatively consistent. Veterans have improved and freshman have made big contributions to make up for the losses in the line-up. Connolly has picked up where he left off despite being without MConn and Fontaine next to him.

What gives me pause is that we have only played two teams currently in the top 10 in the PWR (Minn and Notre Dame) and went 1-3 against them. (Although the Minn games were very close.) During our unbeaten run only Denver (15th) is currently in the top 20 in PWR. Our schedule sets us up well for a run at the MacNaughton, but again only two opponents (CC and Western, both tied for 10th) are currently in the top 10 of PWR. North Dakota (currently 19th) might be in the top 10 by the time we play them. No matter what happens the rest of the regular season, I think people will feel that UMD has a lot to prove in the postseason.

True. But few opposing fans will pay for that.

Reiter has far exceeded my expectations. He is fundamentally sound and is playing as one of the best goalies in college hockey.

The RPI thing will be helped this weekend and throughout the second half. We can only play the schedule we are given. And our schedule does set up for a great chance for the MacNaughton.

I just got a look at this thread at umdpenaltybox where I would guess an attempt by yours truly to register might not be met with open arms:

http://www.umdpenaltybox.com/MessBoard/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2630

I'd just like to say that we got a look at that goofy video ourselves for first time during the recent Quinnipiac series and I must say that we are all very properly ashamed. Everybody sitting around me was like, "***, are you kidding me?". If you think this is bad, wait until you get a load of our sorry excuse for an organist, our non-existent pep band (although they might be there Friday night), and our cheerleaders who do not skate. I'd bet big money that few, if any of them, even know how. Seriously. At least you can drink in our building.

FYI, the Friday night game is very likely going to be a sell out. I posted about what the current ticket situation is in the UNO thread today.

Sales for the Saturday night game are very strong and 10,000+ is likely that night as well.

This series will almost certainly be the best attended in school history, unless we have a freakin' snow storm or something.

If anybody has any questions about coming here if they are coming, I'll try and answer them.

The Penalty Box kids are all a bunch of Isolationists. Make one little jab about the Beavers making to the Frozen Four the year when they pretty much had home ice to do it on and they'll get all ****y and banish you.

Still, ummm.... yeah, that video is dreadful. a little makeup please. Back off a little to not have so much face in the screen perhaps. That or just have Dean do most of the talking perhaps?? Yikes!!

The video is...hehehe. Our cheerleaders can skate! Not surprising UNO cheerleaders can't, is there even an outdoor rink in Omaha? Nebraska?
I wish I had some questions...but I cannot make the trip. Sigh... But at least I can watch it on TV!

But you should sign up on the board there. Just don't be a complete moron. I would make an account on UNO's boards...but whats the use if I can't make the trip :(

in other news...

The keys to not being banned from tPB:
1. Don't make your first post complaining about shouting "Home of the BULLDOGS" at the end of the national anthem.
2. Don't discuss D2 football in every single hockey thread.

I didn't even bring up the anthem there at all, and I did talk about hockey as well. :p.

If you had kept the D2 football talk in the non-hockey section, you would still have an account. Very few people on that site follow the football team beyond the casual fan level. Further, the football team could have 10 Titles and they would still play a distant second fiddle to Mens Hockey. Duluth is a hockey town. Always has been, always will be.

I am going to miss our senior class.

Was a pleasure to see Connolly play. It'll be interesting to see how Hobey shakes out between him and Abbott.

Don't forget Toothpaste boy ;)

The Hobey Hat Trick will be announced on Thursday. Would be stunning to see Connolly or Abbott left out of that.

Bump.

Anyway, so what is the over/under on the number of goals we score next season? Is 60 being too pessimistic? :D

I did for the most part. Freaking heck. And what's so bad about maybe dropping a little football talk in anyways? You guys afraid that the additional mental strain it would have taken for you guys to talk intelligently about UMD football might have caused you guys to spill your beer or something?? :p

If you believe that, sure. :D Please refer to my second, third, and fourth sentences in the post you quoted for further clarification. :D

Re: tUMD Bulldogs 2011-2012 - Hop on tBandwagon!

A little :)

I don't think it will be as bad as 2007-2008... But I'll take the over on that one :)

One hundred is more realistic. It will all depend on where or not some of this season's freshmen can break the twenty goal plateau.

Re: tUMD Bulldogs 2011-2012 - Hop on tBandwagon!

I was able to watch JT Brown last night against Washington. Wow, he looked really good. The NBC crew commented on JT's play almost every time he was on the ice. He was one of the fastest guys on the ice last night and had 5 shots on goal, with 3 of them being legitimate scoring opportunities, highlighted by a phenomenal move to the front of the net from behind the Washington goal on one of them. While he didn't score, he was impressive. UMD was mentioned many times, including when they showed Jim Johnson on the Washington bench. There is no doubt he can compete at the NHL level. I'm happy for him but will really miss not having him in a Bulldog jersey next year.
