Re: TRP: Hail Marys And False Hopes

Huh. Apparently I am INTP or INTJ, depending. Took half a dozen tests tonight, for gits and shiggles, and those are the only two personalities that showed up.

Who says the 'net isn't educational?:o

Did you read up any of the other docs out there about this stuff? It gets sort of interesting.

I scored well into the INTJ category for most sections, though the N is borderline S. Only 3% of the people out there are supposed to register as INTJ, according to the sites I read.

My company had us take the Pace Palette color test as a team building exercise once. I got full marks on the Green (analytical), then close together on Red (impulsive/thrill seeking) and then Yellow (organizational), and only because you could get a zero, blue (emotional intelligence) got a few points. The Pace Palette people say that only 5% of the people taking that test ever score green as their highest category.

It seems that I'm an odd duck.

After slogging through the tests, I read a couple articles on those two types. I may look into it more, I dunno.

Edit: Sloe, there's a thread for that now. Go make your empty boasts over there. :D

Ah, the Myers-Briggs personality test.

I've historically been an INTJ, but I just took one and got an ISTJ.

Seems the difference is that ISTJ is able to live more in the "now," while INTJ is more comfortable dealing with things that will happen in the future. Meh.

Re: TRP: Hail Marys And False Hopes

Another test I've seen tries to identify what kind of leader you are. There are a couple different tests with different names for the leadership types, but they all boil down to the same four types:

D - dominant - the "alpha dog" type who commands respect and has the cajones to press forward - wants to achieve

I - interpersonal - the type who's always running around, being social, solving interpersonal problems, and coming up with new ideas - wants to be popular

S - stable - the type who quietly keeps everything in working order and does what is asked of him - wants to get it done

C - cautious - the type who does everything by the book and makes sure it works right - wants to get it right

I'm a close race between S and C, with S winning out if I realize it's going to **** people off (S's hate rocking the boat.) I don't quite have the huevos to be a D, and I have next to no I. I tend to like that "second banana" role where I can take dictation from a D or bring an I's ideas down to earth and make them work. I was secretary of my fraternity under an extreme I, and together we cut our meeting times by about 75%.

Re: TRP: Hail Marys And False Hopes

I'm a bit sick of Myers-Briggs testing - people can't be easily pigeonholed into one of 16 personality types and treated exclusively as such. Their dominant personality type may be what you normally work with, but people change, and they often have another personality type bubbling just beneath the surface.

Having said that, I'm something like an ISFP, though there's a fair bit of ambiguity in that rating.

Re: TRP: Hail Marys And False Hopes

speaking of books i still havent read (the personality types book I've got floating around)... i ought to get on that, huh?

Re: TRP: Hail Marys And False Hopes

Stupid snow. I have to be in Blaine for hockey tonight.

Good sister-in-law. Because she ducked out, I'm taking my brother's spare ticket to Metallica tomorrow night.

I'm going to that too. I have 2 tickets, so a friend and I are going. Another friend of ours is going also, in a group of 10 from his work, they're all going to downtown at about 3 to start drinking. I won't be going down there until about 5, then I think we'll meet up with their drunk asses. I don't plan on drinking much, I'm going to the boring sober one tomorrow night.

Attention 2010 Poser of the Year voters: the season has started and I am back in action.

Re: TRP: Hail Marys And False Hopes

This is like spring training for me. Just gearing up for later in the year.

Saw some of your "work." What you're doing is the equivalent to the SF/Rams game last week. It was over before it started. All you had to do was score once. :p
