Re: TRP: Changing Conferences Since 1999

There's a shocker (no pun intended). The story involves someone from North Dakota, pot, and meth. :D

Bismarck police Lt. Mike McMerty said the woman told officers Martin came to her home Sunday and claimed she had stolen $500 from him, and they also argued about a jacket.

I wonder if it was one of the leather Sioux jackets???? :p

Re: TRP: Changing Conferences Since 1999

Just got off the field for a High School Sophomore baseball game... Hillcrest HS conceded the game after 2.5 innings, down 28-1...

I have never seen a group of kids so out of place on a ballfield in all the years I have been umpiring... I guess I should say that Hillcrest is a "Basketball" school and their kids don't play baseball growing up in that part of the Chicago area... But over the past few years, their teams have just fallen off the cliff as far as being competitive goes... Last year their varsity squad lost a game to Oak Lawn HS 42-0... I've never had a varsity game involving them go 7 innings... Every contest I have had has been called in the 5th inning due to the 10-run rule... I'm all for giving kids opportunities, but this is borderline becoming a joke... I can't see how this is even remotely fun for the kids... As an official, these games definitely aren't in the "fun" category...

I wonder if it is even appropriate to write the IL High School Association or the school about this  I'm sure school officials are aware of what's going on... I just hate to see something bad come out of it...

Well, if they keep coming out to compete, and they're in no danger from a safety standpoint, I don't see how you can say anything. They've got a right to come out and get their asses kicked, I suppose, as long as they're not injuring themselves.

Oh, I forgot to mention. For those of you in the Twin Cities, that want some good news, I have some! On my way to Target Field earlier this week, I saw that Drink is now closed and opened as a much less dooshy bar! I'm sure people that frequent that are more than me already knew this but for me this was a very welcome change (even though I still will probably never go in there, just like I never set foot in Drink) As long as queer as **** popped collar dip**** keep their asses away from TK's I'll be OK.

More good news for those in the TC Metro:

They are ripping out the softball fields by Fogerty Arena and putting in a curling club.

Star Trib had an article on that today. Had an interior picture, and it looks higher class. Dark wood bar, really nice looking. The writer of the article said the owner couldn't stress enough that that location's "party bar" days are over. Sounds like they were sick of the dooshes, too.

Some country music schmuck has a song called "Flyover States". It's like they're not even trying to pretend anymore that they appeal to anyone besides backward hicks.
