Re: TRP: Changing Conferences Since 1999

Thanks, guys! By the way, those of you who aren't too LAME to be making the trip (BRENT) will get to meet her in Tampa.

Congratulations!! That's great news!! And since I will be in Tampa, I look forward to meeting her. And telling her everything I know about you. Which is not much and not as threatening as it might sound........:o

Re: TRP: Changing Conferences Since 1999

Nah. I stick to my guns on the issue that nothing that's said on Facebook is actually important enough to make a big deal out of. If he were to say that to her face, THEN we would have words. :p

Edit to add: But I think even a rube like Brent has more tact than that.
I don't. There's a not insignificant percentage of women who've labeled me as a jerk for no other reason than they can't take jokes.

For instance, hanging out with a friend, and his wife, along with her was one of her friends. (This wasn't a setup since my buddy and I just stopped by the bar after playing hockey - that's not the best smelling time to hit on the ladies, MNS.) We were all telling stupid stories, and then she tells a story how when she was in college she had slept with a TA for an A grade. I made an offhanded, light joke about having never met a prostitute before (she met the technical definition, really), and I hear back at work that following Monday how she didn't take kindly to the joke. I thought I said it in a playful enough manner to intone that I wasn't being serious, but whatever.

All the Beanpot is anymore is an excuse for Bob Norton to rub one out.

Re: TRP: Changing Conferences Since 1999

That's funny. I got a job one year verifying petitions at the CO Secretary of State's office. So what you do is you take a petition book, and a printout taht comes with it, and the printout will say, like, page 1 line 12. So you look at line 12 of page 1, you look up that name in the voter registration database, and you check to see that all the information matches what is on the petition. If you can read the entry, and all the info matches, the signature is valid. They sample a certain percentage of signature, like 10 or so. Then whatever percentage of signatures come up invalid, they throw out that percentage of the total signatures.

Anyway, at some point, while I was on a break, I look up myself to see if I had registered at my current address. (I used to move A LOT) Out of curiosity I looked up my friend who had just gotten married, and taken her husband's name. She was there. Then I looked her up under her maiden name. There, too. Then I looked up my grandmother who had died about three years earlier. She was there too. So I asked the supervisor how exactly names come OFF the voter rolls. Obviously, it's different in MA, but in CO, your name comes off the voter registration when you fail to vote in 2 consecutive general elections. My grandmother had only been dead for one, so she was on, and there had been no general election since my friend got married, so her maiden name was still on.

I found that fascinating.

wow. I don't think someone who sleeps with a TA for a grade has a lot of moral ground to stand on. ;)

belated congrats to jmh, because I can't rep you.

Hold on... does the Final Five have six teams?

Yep. They didn't want to change the name, which is probably a good idea, since the Final 5 is a pretty recognizable name around this area. Changing it would have confused the less intelligent people, namely those from Grand Forks and St. Cloud.

And replaced with a game played with even less enthusiasm, a Wild game.

So? Not like it is included in any of the WCHA ticket packages, I'm all in favor of not having to pay for games that don't really matter.
