rush to break the story. US Attorney stating that no arrest and no one in custody...

at one point boston.com had a huge headline stating an arrest had been made with a banner above it with the US Attorney's Office Statement

careless journalism....

I have no problem with message boards like ours posting information gleaned from Twitter and whatnot. I have a serious issue when legitimate news organizations are basically using Twitter and rumors as legitimate sources. Especially when they say it's been confirmed by an official source.

especially when it says "an official source who spoke upon condition of anonymity." this seems particularly oxymoronic.

Security is so tight at the courthouse that the public is not being allowed to bring in cell phones.

I've always hated the a source close to the investigation and anonymity thing. Also, isn't there an old rule of at least two sources before going to air with something?

At first, a marathon leaves motivations in question...but add in the federal courthouse and letter and the date holds a bit more meaning. I do wonder if it happening on April 15 is an indicator.
