Travel Part 3: Destination Unknown

Re: Travel Part 3: Destination Unknown

You should get 100% of miles and dollars, if you're flying on Air France.

I'm dumb. I had to click the date box on their stupid website.

Looks like a bonus in miles but you only get 25% of MQDs with this note:
(3) Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs) apply to Medallion qualification. Flights marketed by the partner will earn MQDs based on a percentage of distance flown* as determined by the fare class paid.

So something like cost * 25% = MQD? So on a 2,000-mile flight it would be 500 MQDs I think.

Re: Travel Part 3: Destination Unknown

Yeah, the percentage MQD thing is hilarious. There are idiots out there doing cheap biz-class flights on sh*tty airlines like Aeromexico and China Eastern just to game the Medallion system.

Re: Travel Part 3: Destination Unknown

Well I finally figured out our work booking system so that I could get a three-flight, seven-city ticket through delta for cheaper. It’s a pain in the ***.

Worth it if you go thru ams vs cdg

Re: Travel Part 3: Destination Unknown

I have to fly from CDG to Poland on one leg.

We have soemthing like five countries in five days and then spend a week and a half in Germany.

seems kind of a waste of time to me. I'm doing three countries in 4 weeks starting in July.

It isn’t if the purpose is to visit as many plants as possible. Time is more valuable than money when it comes to this trip.

It's not the fastest system for domestic flights, imagine it's that much slower for international.

Re: Travel Part 3: Destination Unknown

In Vancouver for the weekend. Decided to catch the Fratellis live at the Commodore. Hey, did we just score?

Re: Travel Part 3: Destination Unknown

Huh. Bellagio is significantly cheaper if I book through the MGM Resorts website, and sign into my "M-Life" account that I signed up for last time in Vegas. Like, hundreds of dollars for a long weekend cheaper.

Re: Travel Part 3: Destination Unknown

A couple days in Belgium, one in Paris, one in Poland, and a number in Germany. We’ll also be spending time elsewhere on our own.

Very cool. I envy you; you probably won't want to come back to the Republic of F-ckwitistan.

Re: Travel Part 3: Destination Unknown

Yeah it’s exciting. When I was over there for a couple weeks last year, it was a mild shock to the system coming back.

It’s even harder when you live there for years and then come back.
