Re: Travel Part 2 - Where ya headed?

If I were Bavarian, I would revoke your right to enter the city just for uttering "IPA." Blasphemy.

Hey, sometimes the Brits and Americans get things right. Malty beers are good, but goddam. a good IPA in the summer is hard to beat.

No. IPA is the beer manifestation of a gross-out contest. "Oh yeah? You thought THAT one tasted like crap? Wait until you see how many hops we jammed into THIS one!"

Bah. I used to think that as well. But then I realized I was wrong. A well-balanced IPA is a wonderful thing.

But fine, if we can't agree on IPAs, how about a nice stout?

This is the case with every style of beer. Just replace hops with whatever agent that style is known to be heavy on.

It does depend on the IPA. Get me a double/imperial IPA, better chance I'll like it. It's more balanced.

As soh said, it's all about balance. Goes for any style of beer.

Going back to the Twin Cities next year for the Frozen Four. Usually, I stay with a friend, but she'll be gone that time of year. So, can anyone recommend a decent hotel within walking distance of the X?

Good luck. Expect to pay big $$$, if there's anything left at this point.

It was about $350/night min IF you found a hotel that had rooms open, near the X. The Crowne (or whatever it's called now) was the farthest one away that I looked into. They learned from the last F4, that's for sure.

Re: Travel Part 2 - Where ya headed?

Today I sat top of the world at Five Fingers. Dove deep into the Earth to explore the Ice Caves. Drove down through the Alps before speeding away on the Autobahn.

I don't want it to end.

Re: Travel Part 2 - Where ya headed?

Not sure what your price ceiling is SB, but I would suggest staying in downtown Minneapolis, and riding the Green Line between Gov't Center and St. Paul. Still rates under $200/nt for FF weekend. I can vouch for the Hilton, it's solid, but there are several other options.

EDIT: Well, there you go. As for the distance, that's what Uber/Lyft is for.

Re: Travel Part 2 - Where ya headed?

Or you're not stupid and you Uber saving yourself hundreds of dollars.

For the 2011 F4, the Crowne was $200/night w/parking, shared a room. Cheaper and more convenient than driving to StP every day for four days (the parking prices def played a part).

This year, not cost-effective enough for me to do that.

So I'm at a Nachtmarket festival on the eve of assumption day.

It's like the Minnesota state fair here except the food, beer, and music doesn't suck.

They have bacon, beer, and whiskey stands.

You should see their Christmas markets.
