This is a hard one for me. I'm not sure the sting of last year will ever completely go away, but I'm going to do my best to remain objective as it relates to QU. As mentioned in my other posts, love to hear from others and especially those who have followed the conference closely. Thanks!
Quarters
QU sweeps RPI - I have got to believe QU is going to straighten itself out after having some hiccups in the last month. Too many veterans still remaining from last year not to make some push. I know this tourney has been struggle for them to win and I'm sure that will add a small amount of pressure in addition to the fact they really need to make a deep run to solidify a #2 seed in the Pairwise.
Union wins 2-1 vs Dartmouth - This might be a situation where on paper Dartmouth should win this series at home, but in the H2H Union has done well in this matchup. Tight series, but I'll take Union in an upset.
Colgate wins 2-1 St. Lawrence - Colgate is 10-3-1 Since two OT losses at LIU back in early January. Their resume tells me when they bring their "A" game they can hang tough with anyone in the conference. Wins against Clarkson, QU, and a couple tight games against Maine as evidence. St. Lawrence also has some impressive wins, but the yo-yo seems to swing a little wider with them as those impressive wins also come with some blowout losses. Good enough to steal one, but hard to see them getting past a surging Clarkson at home.
Cornell sweeps Harvard - I caught a few Harvard games this year and was not impressed. Cornell has always played a style that gets them comfortable playing in tight games. I could see at least one shutout here, the Big Red know they have to win this tourney to get in most likely and they'll be locked in.
Semi's - If I'm wrong here please tell me, but I don't think they reseed after the Quarters? My picks are based on this not being a reseed.
QU wins vs Union 5-2. - As predictable as death and taxes, QU back in the chip. Regardless of the uneven play of late, I think they have more than enough talent and grit to find their way back.
Cornell wins vs Colgate 3-2 in 2OT. I really should have just flipped a coin here. Cornell wins the war of attrition.
Final
QU wins vs Cornell 4-2. Here me out on this one. I think Cornell wins this game, save for one factor. They just came off a 2OT game the night before against Colgate. They come out strong early but lose late. QU finally gets the Whitelaw. Should put QU at 7 or better in the Pairwise.
