Time to drop a deuce: the second MN Gopher Offseason Thread

As far as recruiting goes, I think Lucia should copy York's approach at BC. Just get small talented players and fill the roster with them. For the most part, the NHL won't raid the roster since that league still has a collective hard-on for bigger players.

Yep. Sure worked with Schroeder. Oh, wait...

As far as recruiting goes, getting rid of Hill would help solid defensive dmen with NHL aspirations to once again consider UMN as a viable option.

Just sayin' ;)

since BC is the only real elite team out east, they get to pick and chose the best talent. doesn't work that way in the WCHA, many more choices on where the best talent will end up. and besides, if they are really that good, the NHL will sign them. After all, kane is small, and he does ok.

Why do they lock threads at 1000? I have always wondered.

It's good to see Barriball back, hopefully he can finish his career healthy.

University of Minnesota men’s hockey coach Don Lucia announced today his roster for the upcoming 2010-11 season. The Golden Gophers’ 27-man lineup will consist of 17 returning players and 10 incoming freshman.

The 10 freshman joining the program are Mark Alt (St. Paul, Minn.), Nick Bjugstad (Blaine, Minn.), Nate Condon (Wausau, Wis.), Max Gardiner (Minnetonka, Minn.), Eric Haula (Pori, Finland), Justin Holl (Minnetonka, Minn.), Jared Larson (Apple Valley, Minn.), Jake Parenteau (Shafer, Minn.), Nate Schmidt (St. Cloud, Minn.) and Tom Serratore (Colorado Springs, Colo.).

“We are excited about the upcoming year,” said coach Don Lucia. “We believe we have a good mixture of returning and incoming players and look forward to a competitive season. The team has had a great off-season in the weight room and has made tremendous strides physically.”

Wow 27 this year, looks like tDon doesn't want to worry about being shorthanded again.

Motzko is currently telling Aaron that in their years at the U together, Barriball was plowing Gigi. Jay's not gonna see it coming

If you've ever seen Jay and Gigi in person you would know how absolutely hilarious your statement is, Victor Hugo's depiction of Quasimodo and Esmeralda comes to mind.

Not sure if it will happen, but a Cepis/Haula/Barriball line could be good scoring line and all three play with some grit.
