Those Were the Days, or, Rekindling the Flame (Wars): BC visits UNH, Saturday, 11/21

Re: Those Were the Days, or, Rekindling the Flame (Wars): BC visits UNH, Saturday, 11

IDK, I kinda have a bad feeling about this one. Now if this game was in March or April... not so much.

If this game was in April, we'd be in FantasyLand 'cuz UNH ain't gonna get past March. Sad but true.

Is my vehicle bugged? This was the Mill before Packer's Falls Road Durham egress conversation last night. "We could win HEA". "Yeah, right." "It used to be BC/BU/UNH/UMO, now it is BC/BU/UML/PRO." "Sigh...."

Can we go back to Greg's comment about BC being the visiting team at Fenway tonight and how ludicrous that is? Nudge nudge SMT fans, nudge nudge. ;)

I'm not driving my arse all the way up there to see my team lose!

Eagles 93, UHN 0 :)

Some of the unh faithful are much more confident than i expected. No idea if it's warranted or not but i never take anything for granted at the whitt. Plus BC hasn't been on the road in a while. Need to be ready at puck drop. One olus is unh had to play last night.

Refs better reign things in here.

Re: Those Were the Days, or, Rekindling the Flame (Wars): BC visits UNH, Saturday, 11

Prior to the Furgele tally, it had been 3 games and 9 goals since UNH scored a goal that didn't involve Poturalski or Kelleher...

Re: Those Were the Days, or, Rekindling the Flame (Wars): BC visits UNH, Saturday, 11

You're right - and Kelleher was a -3 - UNH would be better off without them...

Re: Those Were the Days, or, Rekindling the Flame (Wars): BC visits UNH, Saturday, 11

Postural ski was -4 on the night.

Ouch.

Several of us who predicted 5-2 for BC didn't miss by much.

Shame UNH scored 3 goals and still never really had a shot at the win.

There goes the "unbeaten in HE" thing. 3-5-3 isn't quite "Champions of December" quality. Ugh.

On the plus/minus stuff ... it's kind of hard to criticize Coach Umile for leaning on his top line tonight. We b!tch about the ice time given to the less experienced/less talented players, so when he tries to ride his top line against one of the top 2-3 talented teams in the league, and this happens, then it's not exactly shocking, is it?

I'll stop here 'cuz I wasn't at the game, and I don't know the time on ice, line match-ups, etc. but a 3 goal loss is hardly surprising here. I'm just disappointed that a poor 3rd period may end up setting DT back, despite a (slight) recent upturn in his play. And with a return to non-conference play coming up, performances and results need to follow, and soon.

Re: Those Were the Days, or, Rekindling the Flame (Wars): BC visits UNH, Saturday, 11

Poturalski was on the ice for five BC goals - two were horrid defensive turnovers where it wouldn't have mattered which F's were on the ice for UNH (as they were all caught out of the play) and one was an empty netter. A fourth was almost called back for a BC off-sides. I did not see the first-period short handed goal.

Remove the ENG & the two turnovers and he's a -1 (He also had the primary assist on the PP goal - for which he does not get a +). Not sure if its ever occurred to YOU Chuck, but sometimes statistics can be misleading..

Meh...this game basically met my expectations. Tight, low-scoring game early, until BC wears UNH out in the third.

Watching the 'Cats fend off the 5 on 3 was an awesome thing to see. We played them tight til the end of the third. Game far exceeded my expectations. We challenged Demko and other kids stepped up. Game not indicative of the score. Talked to a few of the team after and they are realistic and looking ahead. Onward 'Cats!

How many other teams have lit up Demko for three goals this season?

Totally unrelated, but JvR, Dan Winnik, and their Leaf mates got shut out 2-0 by Tuukka and the Bs on Saturday night.
