Re: The WJC Thread. USA! USA! USA!

No argument from this Canadian, but there are as many, if not more Americans (here and elsewhere) who refuse to give credit to their opponents. Anyone who says they'd root for the Taliban before Canada is beneath contempt, considering that young men and women (many as young as these junior hockey players) from my country have been pulling their weight and dying while battling those neanderthals for the past several years.

I think much of it (especially on this site) extends from the appendage measuring that goes on between those that support the CHL and those that support US college hockey. I respect Canadians, but sometimes nationalism becomes rather... cheeky.. to be kind, especially about their entitled, ordained sport. No doubt there are idiots on both sides that don't get it. But, I can shoulder up next to my Canadian friends (from all provinces, BTW) and know that if we disagree (which we frequently do about US politics, environment, hockey, beer etc.) that they'll be the first one in most cases to cover my back if needed.

With maple syrup. And standby while you're attacked by a grizzly bear.

Re: The WJC Thread. USA! USA! USA!

Thanks, Keith Allain, for losing USA Hockey a chance to win a gold medal on home ice and knock out Canada. I've never seen a team so unprepared for a game as Team USA was for that semi-final.

That game will haunt me for the rest of my life.

p.s. Let's get a real coach, next year.

The US team had the best record in the tourney. They did not get it done against Canada but made a pretty good showing for most of the games they played. I think they actually played better than the talent level of the team and that is a testament to the coach and his staff, none of the teams were favored against Canada and most of the pundits picked USA to finish 2nd or 3rd. I think the late cuts this year had alot to do with how the team ultimately performed. I would not want to coach such an important game with a team that was assembled basically the week before a tourney begins. Please remain haunted. It is quite amusing.;)

Re: The WJC Thread. USA! USA! USA!

not sure if it was mentioned, as i dont care to read through the stupid mumblings in this thread since the games ended. but given this years standings, USA and Canada are in the same group next year. should be fun and atleast the team will have a nice test before the medal rounds.

I think we get Finland, The Czechs, and Denmark too.

Much more competitive group that should get us some tests before the medal round. 19,000 screaming Canadians in Edmonton or Calgary are going to be the team's treat on New Year's Eve next year. They better play like men in that game or that could be a bloodbath.

Edmonton gets the group that Canada is in. Calgary gets the other group.

All games after the round robin are held in Calgary. (This way, both cities get to see their national team.)

Moved on to Michigan State as an 18 year old freshmen
As a freshmen, led all D in scoring with 21 points as well as 80 blocked shots. and named to all CCHA rookie team.

Graduated with a 4.02 grade-point average from Cathedral High School in Indianapolis

East Lansing, Mich. - Michigan State sophomore captain Torey Krug has been named to the CCHA Preseason All-Conference Team, as announced today by the CCHA office.

Krug received the third-most votes of any blueliner in the conference, garnering three first-place votes and 30 points. An All-Rookie team selection a season ago, Krug had a 3-18-21 scoring line while playing approximately 24 minutes per game as a freshman. Krug was voted the captain of the Spartans by his teammates during summer workouts.

Aug. 31, 2010

East Lansing, Mich. - -- Michigan State hockey coach Rick Comley has announced that sophomore Torey Krug (Livonia, Mich.) will captain the Spartans in the upcoming season, with seniors Dustin Gazley (Novi, Mich.) and junior Trevor Nill (Novi, Mich.) serving as alternate captains.

Krug is only the second player in Michigan State history to wear a captain's "C" on his sweater as a sophomore. Detroit native Don McSween was a captain in the 1984-85 season, sharing the captaincy with Kelly Miller and Dan McFall. Krug becomes the only solo sophomore captain in program history.

"Torey has established himself as a leader in our locker room, and it's a testament to him that his teammates voted him to be their captain," said head coach Rick Comley, who is embarking on his ninth season behind the bench at Michigan State. "We saw those leadership qualities in him as we recruited him, and we knew that he would bring that to our program. Dustin Gazley and Trevor Nill are two hard-working players who expect the best of themselves and the others around them, and they are great leaders by example. It's their conduct, effort and initiative that has established them as leaders among their teammates, and the vote was very indicative of their stature in our locker room."

This year with Michigan State, he is second on the team in scoring with 15 points in 17 games, 3 times more than the next dman on the team.

Samuelson is 3rd on his team for d scoring and 4th in plus minus on D. Has been very sloppy, been to the WJC camp 3 times now, with the first 2 being the first rd cut group. has done zero this year on the ice to be there again.

I know there are many great canidates but none more so deserving, if so please provide info. USA hockey on purpose makes sure they only have Natl kids and other chosen ones there.

He at least deserves the chance to skate with thegroup and if gets cut, so be it.

Re: The WJC Thread. USA! USA! USA!

He's been busy coaxing the ECAC to make sure that Curadi didn't get credit for his first goal that he actually scored.

He's been busy being suspended. Don't see him bragging to much about UConn or Maine's coaching situations that he had so much knowledge on. Guy is a clown. plain and simple.

Sorry horse face, I was the one who 100% broke the Gendron to Maine story. Reported it first and knew about it several days before that.

nice try though

I'm sorry?
Corkum will be the new head coach and Maine will be back in the Garden next year, following year at the latest.

Sure you did! I'm sure they probably consulted with you first you fraud. Just like you 100% guaranteed that UConn wouldn't hire Cavanaugh.

Or what about this one you dope: "Corkum will be the new head coach and Maine will be back in the Garden next year, following year at the latest."

Get lost. Clowning you is just not that much fun anymore.
