Agreed. At the same time, it's the first game and you expect some sloppiness. If they come together and keep improving, they should run the table in the group stage. At least on paper, Finland's the toughest opponent we'll face in this round.

I'm not well versed on the Euro Junior Teams, but I assume Finland was our most difficult opponent in group play? I know the Swiss have gotten better in recent years and the Slovaks are a traditional "Big 7" Team, but the Finnish program usually produces superior teams.

I would have said the Swiss would be our biggest in-pool competition heading into the tourney, but Finland had the fortune of getting the USA as they were still trying to build chemistry. The Switzerland-USA game on New Years Eve will be a good one, though, as Nino Neiderreiter is probably the best forward in the tournament.
