The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

Chay, if you read this, take heed. Do NOT return as soon as your symptoms subside. Your brain is still in recovery well afterwards . . .

The athletic trainers won't steer him wrong. :)

Notice to all other teams: Beware the eids of march! UND is coming for ya.

Great weekend. Awesome to see Lammy light the lamp twice tonight.

Beware the Eidsness of March! ;)

Terrific series from Eidsness. He really stepped up this weekend and made some great saves when needed. Hopefully he can keep that up.
How nice is it to have Hextall back? Three goals...
And then Lammy with his return performance tonight and netting two.

VV and Gregoire continue to pour on the points as well.

guys are stepping up every which way and how. From Malone dominating on faceoffs to Frattin on the power play to Blood throwing his weight around on D to Lammy firing the puck in a place that the goalie had no chance, the guys played a great game last night and a great series. Most complete series from the Sioux this season by far.

And the sig won't get changed. They are still on the outside looking in. ;)

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

Possible WCHA finish?

1. DU
2. UW
3. SCSU
4. UMD
5. UND
6. CC
7. UMN
8. MSUM
9. UAA
10. MTU

MTU @ DU - DU in 2
UAA @ UW - UW in 2
MSUM @ SCSU - SCSU in 3
UMN @ UMD - UMD in 3
CC @ UND - UND in 3

That would be a F5 of DU, UW, SCSU, UMD, and UND.
Of course, that is with no upsets in the 1st round. I could see the UMD/UMN series going either way. The UND/CC series would be a tough one as well, but if the Sioux continue with their strong play hopefully they would advance to St. Paul.

Even if the Sioux advance to the F5, there is no way that they avoid the play-in game unless there are at least 2 upsets from teams in front of them...

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

For the 2nd straight week, two UND players bring home weekly WCHA honors:

Former Walsh Hall roommates Brett Hextall and Brad Eidsness are the offensive and defensive players of the week in the WCHA.

Hextall had three goals and one assist in a two-game sweep of Minnesota-Duluth. He's on a career-best, seven-game point streak with eight goals and three assists during that time. Hextall was plus-three in the series against the Dogs. For the season, Hextall has 12 goals, six assists and 18 points.

Eidsness stopped 53 of 56 shots (.946 save percent) in the sweep of Duluth. He has allowed just four goals in the last three games, all Sioux wins. During those games, Eidsness has a 1.51 goals-against average and a .951 save percentage. Eidsness currently sits in second place behind Marc Cheverie for the WCHA's goaltending title.

Nine different Sioux players have earned weekly WCHA honors this season. The only two-time winner so far is Corban Knight.

UND in weekly honors this season
Oct. 13 -- Mike Cichy, WCHA rookie of the week
Oct. 20 -- Chay Genoway, WCHA defensive player of the week
Nov. 10 -- Evan Trupp, WCHA offensive player of the week
Dec. 1 -- Danny Kristo, WCHA rookie of the week
Jan. 12 -- Jason Gregoire, WCHA offensive player of the week
Jan. 12 -- Corban Knight, WCHA rookie of the week
Feb. 16 -- Chris VandeVelde, WCHA offensive player of the week
Feb. 16 -- Corban Knight, WCHA rookie of the week
Feb. 23 -- Brett Hextall, WCHA offensive player of the week
Feb. 23 -- Brad Eidsness, WCHA defensive player of the week

We lose Genoway. UW will lose Geoffrion this weekend. Mankato's Harrison better hope Marvin finally gets some attention from McLeod/Shepherd by 3/05, or he'll be getting the next blind-sided concussion.

I have seen it written a few places on line that Marvin is going to be getting a two game suspension from the league. I think that came from Huskies fans.

Yeah, I saw that too. Like with Genoway, Marvin made his decision well before. Mystified why Husky fans think everyone hates them.

But Husky whining isn't without a point - no penalty was called. Unlike Genoway, Geoffrion had the puck. The refs were staring right at him.

CHN Team of the Week:

North Dakota

Best Quote in the article.

"If you look at our game (Saturday) we had a lot of jump in the third period, and I think it's because we were able to (roll) with four lines. That gave us a small advantage in the third period."

Always nice to see players returning to the lineup, just hope there are no more serious injuries this season so that we can continue with 4 lines.:)
