Holland, MI is facing the same thing. The city wants to develop some low-income housing (at least turning a chunk of single family homes into duplexes), and rich white people are all putting "NO TO REZONING" signs in their yard. Also, the "NO TO REZONING" signs are not even in the neighborhood the city wants to rezone.

Liberals are terrible about NIMBYism. One of the reasons real estate prices are astronomical in places like San Francisco and Seattle. I wish we could point a finger solely at rich white Republicans, but we can’t.

Holland is basically "the sign says "Welkom", but if you're not a Dutch, rich, cishet white conservative, we really don't want you here."

Yeah, sorry, by quoting you I made it sound like I knew the makeup of Holland. I definitely don’t. I’ll take your word for it on the kind of people living there. I meant in general, liberals are just as guilty of being NIMBYs as conservatives. I wish it weren’t so.

Used to be lots of towns up and down the Hudson like that. Believe it or not there is still Dutch Olde Money in NY. As in, real olde money: New Amsterdam 1630's money.
