Why can’t they talk about both? They’re on TV 24/7. Certainly a powerful white guy, especially a Democrat, being accused of multiple instances of sexual assault or harassment is newsworthy- and needs to be.

Because they are paid to spend 12/7 talking about how divisive liberals are and how politically unwise it is for Democrats to try to help people, and 11/7 about how the gubmint is strangling job creators with job killing bureaucracy like child labor and minimum wage laws.
Because for conservatives in Congress and on SCOTUS it's 1927, if not 1887, and the New Deal never happened, and they're starting to rethink the 14th Amendment as well.
They spend a lot of time on the nursing home ‘scandal,’ that isn’t really a scandal as well. I believe you live in the Midwest so might not get the significance of the Tappan Zee but if it got shutdown it would literally impact tens of millions of people. It’s one of the most critical pieces of infrastructure in the entire northeast.

CNN, not OANN. Yes, they’re controlled by “plutes”, so I’m inclined to agree with the 12/7 talk about Dems in Disarray, but not so much the 11/7 split on the rest. Even still, that leaves one hour for talking about Cuomo’s unwanted sexual advances under a crumbling bridge.

The nursing home issue has only gotten larger, not smaller, since it started. Lots of state and federal level Democrats looking into the matter, the most important of course being New York AG Tish James. I’ll let her decide how “scandalous” the nursing home issue is, assuming Cuomo even survives that long to see its completion.
I don’t doubt the bridge is important. That’s why I said they should cover both stories, rather than picking the bridge story over Cuomo quickly burgeoning into a potential sexual predator.

It’s unfortunate Michael Tubbs lost his mayoral re-election race in Stockton last year. He could have maybe expanded UBI even more and provided more concrete benefits for other locales to see/study. I read a lengthy article about him and Stockton a handful of months ago. Might have been in Politico?
I'm not buying "tens of millions," at least not in ways that 10s of millions of people would notice. If it fell into the river, there might be some *minor* impact on 10s of millions, in terms of shipments taking longer or being more expensive, but those would be so small that the people affected surely wouldn't notice nor ascribe the impact to the missing bridge.
WFH would definitely make it easier than say 20 years ago. The problem is you put all that extra traffic on 95 and the roads leading to 95 get completely jammed. I think there would be impact from New Haven down to somewhere south of Newark.
No doubt you would have major shipping issues, but it’s hard to say how severe they would be. The new bridge is actually two bridges so maybe you could keep one side open to commercial traffic.
One thing I’ve started doing in the last five years or so if I have to go to NJ or further south is to take 84 and cross the Hudson in Newburgh. It’s longer but at least you don’t get stuck in as much traffic.

I'm just going based on the fact that even the most generous definition of the NY Metro area (the "Combined Statistical Area") only has 23.7M people. If you did a survey a year after a hypothetical loss of the bridge, I really doubt that 84% (20M, since you did say multiple 10s of millions) of the people in the NY metro area would say, "Yes, my life is noticeably worse now because there's no TZ bridge."
