This isn't even shocking.

Were he and Harvey Weinstein twins separated at birth?

Cool, Ron. No hurricane bailout for you.

“ Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis echoed comments from President Trump about the possibility of Congress allocating federal aid to states financially hit by the coronavirus outbreak, saying that the crisis should not be used to "bail out" state obligations that were "run up over 20 or 30 years."

"If you're going to make a state whole from pre-pandemic, that's one thing. But to go beyond that and to bail out pensions or do things like that, a lot of these states weren't being managed properly," DeSantis said.”

This is the Nullification Crisis again. The loser states need a little smack every century or so.

Well, yeah. It's fine if red areas vote by mail...

Re: The States: Where We Wish Texas Would Secede Already

I would think rural areas are far more likely to vote by mail. By all means shut it down.

I'm sure there is data available to support or refute that, but my anecdotal experience in rural communities has been that folks enjoy the community aspect of voting in person. In a Covid world? Not so sure. Venues tend to be small and crowded. Rural demographics are older, so many will probably be afraid to risk exposure.

Then again, everyone knows who has been infected and who has been out of town in the last two weeks. Knowledge becomes a little spotty with children who have been away for at least 10 years, though the level of certainty is still pretty high.

Re: The States: Where We Wish Texas Would Secede Already

Wisconsin. All is forgiven.

You know, funny you should mention that because my wife and I drove by the one in Duluth and I laughed and said, “I never even thought about this, but the stripping industry is going to get hard by this. What with social distancing and the shut down on top of that. Who’s going to want a lap dance even after the initial shut down is over? Worse yet, a lot of them are independent contractors. And let’s be honest, a lot of them aren’t stripping because they’re trial lawyers during the day. So they’re probably hurting right now.”

Re: The States: Where We Wish Texas Would Secede Already

the stripping industry is going to get hard by this.

And that's what we call a Freudian slip.

As to whether it affects business, think about the guys who go to strip clubs.

It will not affect business.

Re: The States: Where We Wish Texas Would Secede Already

a lot of them aren’t stripping because they’re trial lawyers during the day.

That's cause they don't just stop at stripping.

Fun fact, her husband whom she met in law school had his bar license suspended about a day after that story got published. Pretty sure it was a PR piece to drum up business for her other gig.

Prostitution is everywhere, just in different forms. I say make it legal, and then the horror stories lessen. It's not my thing, but for others, hey have at it.

And let’s be honest, a lot of them aren’t stripping because they’re trial lawyers during the day.

Dr. Mrs. next door neighbor in grad school stripped for extra money to support her two kids while she finished her PhD. Found out later she liked me, too. The road not taken.
