The States: Where We Wish Texas Would Secede Already

Actually, old Chuckie boy got pretty ****ed off. He went after Ronnie boy and actually robbed time from his next guest Abrams.

Yeah that was staged. Chucky made sure to fake some outrage so they could tweet it out in response to him being ripped for enabling this crap. Chuck is a fraud...

What Ronny doesn't seem to ever remember is that Gore and Kerry conceded the race long before the challenges (Gore pretty much ignored the challenges as Veep) so they had no teeth. They were procedural at best. Trump is currently still trying to over turn the election so these challenges are not procedural they are an overt act. Living and dying in the land of false equivalency as always.

Well, he's got no credibility left. But, I think he's still on the show instead of Rachel because Republicans will actually come on with him. If Rachel was doing Meet the Press not a single Republican holding office would ever come on with her. They're all afraid.

False Equivalency is Oxygen to the Republicans.

I’m so sick of these dependent red states and their socialism crap as they suck off the federal teet

I saw an article a couple of weeks ago on this that, as a North Dakota native, I found kind of fascinating.

When looking at the states, and comparing every dollar sent to the feds compared with every dollar received back, North Dakota is the clear winner. For every $1 it sends to Washington it gets something like $3.75 back.

But here is what I found interesting. In terms of the percentage of each state's revenue that is made up by those Federal dollars, North Dakota is near the bottom. I think it was something like 19% of North Dakota's revenue in the state budget comes from the feds, whereas states like SD and others are between 35 and 40%, and I think the average is something like 31%.

In other words not only is North Dakota most dependent, but it also receives funding for the most worthless projects, and/or manages them least efficiently.

Great.

Yeah, that's what I wondered, is whether it's related to the two large air bases.

Obviously there aren't a lot of tax dollars sent to Washington from North Dakota citizens, since there aren't any people. Furthermore, farmers are sort of notorious for shrinking their taxable income near year end through various methods. Thus, any money we receive back in the form of federal aid is going to seem like a lot compared with what the citizens sent in, but it appears that a relatively small portion (relative to other states) is necessary to meet revenue needs for the state budget.

The stupidest and most vicious people in the country are now knob polished by the Republican party. I'm sure Hovey, Buster and our other resident conservatives can tell us how this is good governance.

The only good thing about conservatives is they give us a window on how people could have defended all the reactionary crimes of history. I am certain the same arguments and excuses were used, because it is always the same morally and mentally crippled mindset.
Good governance? It's from Ohio. That immediately makes it an oxymoron.

In case you're interested, if I had my way, all the aborted tissue would be sent to any institution doing fetal tissue research or to those who would like to but are now not allowed to do so.

I believe it was one of those posters who said people’s comments on this board were the reason the country was in such bad shape.

Instead of, you know, their party politics. Teddy thinks the rhetoric is the issue too!

state GOP exec in Texas suggests Romney should be beheaded

Sorry. I can't ever recall saying anything even close to that. Now, I am getting older (and at my age the best thing about getting older is that you still can) so my memory isn't what it used to be. If you can find a post where I said something to that effect (and since I average a post about every three days or so it shouldn't be too hard to find), I will be happy to provide you with a mea culpa and an apology for suggesting that you get your facts straight.

So Pennsylvania's Senate is going stupid today, while the GOP attempts to steal a State Senate seat that's been certified all the way to the PA Supreme Court. Trump has destroyed our republic.

Not Dump per se. The GOP and the Right in general have always had fascist leanings -- it is intrinsic within conservatism. Dump just showed they can be as brazen as they want and there won't be any consequences because there is literally no level below which a Republican voter will not sink.

In a way these mini-coups are a testament to our egalitarianism, just as Dump's election was. This filth will have a voice no matter how vicious and stupid they are. There is no Illuminati Conspiracy to save us from them. Whatever balls the Deep State had in Dallas 1963 are long gone.

federal farm bail outs & subsidies become income for farmers, which they pay income tax on (or buy goods with and pay sales tax). This is not factored into your 19% but still contributes to your state's budget indirectly (that 19% probably consists of direct payments from the feds to the state, like medicare funding, highway funding, etc)

Maine gets more federal money back than it pays in. A lot of that is due to multi-billion dollar contracts at Bath Iron Works to build destroyers (but we're also the oldest state, so there are lots of Medicare and Social Security dollars flowing in). We're pretty big moochers for a blue state

Huh, I did not suspect this. I'd have guessed MT, ND, maybe IA, KS, or NE. I'd never have put ME on that list.

ND is actually a pretty young state, with the % of people over 65 down near the bottom in the list of states. https://www.prb.org/which-us-states-are-the-oldest/

Now, I'm sure rufus will be along shortly to claim that's because we killed them all with Covid. My hunch is that it has something to do with the idea that once you've lived in ND for 65 years and finally reach retirement age, you reach the conclusion there might be somewhere warmer on the planet in which to reside.
