The smartest thing rich people ever did decades ago was convince voters in both parties to focus on cultural issues rich people couldn’t care less about themselves. Allowed them to keep cheating with paying taxes, slashing tax rates, merging their businesses together, etc., while both parties and their leaders enabled it. A damn shame we can’t rely on any white people outside of educated ones, and the lower taxes/business-friendly policies work on them too. Youngkin could win by barely distancing himself from Trump and selling that aforementioned garbage to rich, educated white people in Richmond and Loudon/Fairfax counties. Makes me sick.

See: my dad. Recognizes the culture wars and battles over LGBT stuff are fruitless, but the fucker would vote for a snake if the critter had an R after its name.
 
Looks like Colorado’s new maps, in a state Biden won 56-42, will lean 4-3 Democrat, with the 8th seat a tossup, but in a bad year, could go 5-3 GOP.
NC, after losing in court with their bullsh-t gerrymander a couple years ago, which made their delegation go from 10-3 GOP to 8-5 GOP, passed a map that will likely make it 10-4 GOP or even 11-3 GOP, basically giving the court ruling a middle finger.
And in OH, the redistricting commission predictably failed to pass a map on time, so now the GOP can craft their own gerrymanders.

So long as it continues to win them elections, they don't care and they aren't stupid to run on those issues. They'd sell out their mothers if it meant keeping power.

Part of the Dems' problems is that they forget no one has gone broke underestimating the American public.

Yeah...Dems believe everyone is as smart as they pretend to be. They talk above their audience most of whom find the average sitcom plot complex.
 
The problem is that telling stupid people that they're acting stupidly doesn't typically lead them to the desired outcome of either:

1. They have an epiphany, properly educate themselves, and change their opinion on the subject
2. They get out of the way and let the smart, educated people run the show

Telling a stupid person they're stupid usually leads to them doubling down on their derp.

Here in MI, our SOS made it possible to use a non-binary marker on forms of ID.

And only the typical morons are up in arms. The same ones who squealed loudly when she made it easier to change gender markers the first time in 2019.

The fact is we're never getting anywhere. The biggest problem right now is on Capitol Hill the progressives are acting like they won in 2020 and they didn't. They got their ass kicked. By a 350 year old career politician. And the longer they fight Joe Manchin the more they're going to lose.

This is where you are so wrong. Every Democrat is on board with Joe Biden's agenda. Except two.

And you're saying we need to placate those two. Manchin isn't fighting the progressives. He's fighting the entire party, including his president.
