In hindsight, I think I knew we were fucked when I was sitting at a steakhouse bar in OKC back in 2017 having dinner, and the two middle-aged, be-suited idiots next to me were unironically discussing how Soros was probably responsible for some perceived ill upon the country. Until that point, I had naively assumed George Soros conspiracies were limited to people from places like Assinins, MI and Embarrass, WI*, and not something that was an accepted topic of conversation in a pretentious urban bar, even in a red state.

*Best name for a Midwest "don't blink" town ever

There’s an Embarrass, MN, too. During winter, it often comes in as one of the coldest cities in the contiguous 48.
