The States: Mad Scientist Laboratories of Democracy

Yes, yes, feel the hatred flow through you!

Seriously, what excuse was offered in my post? I laid out the facts of the situation and not a single party was named or blamed.

You're becoming a freakin' meme, and not the sort for which you should be proud.

Agreed.

Re: The States: Mad Scientist Laboratories of Democracy

One fewer POS in the nation's state legs.

A Tea Party lawmaker who once demanded Muslim visitors to her Capitol office pledge allegiance to the U.S. and renounce terrorism lost her re-election bid by just over 100 votes this week, The Dallas Morning News reported.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Re: The States: Mad Scientist Laboratories of Democracy

Yeah, umm...that "massive" surplus that Sen. Lee thinks Snyder/Michigan are sitting on? Bullpucky.

Between the Detroit school funding crisis/fight with the DFT that remains unresolved with an April 8th drop-dead date, the massive road repair deal back in November brokered by Snyder with Congressional R's who opposed him for months (which is already expected to more than exceed its $1.2 bil price tag), and now the Flint water mess caused by a Snyder-appointed emergency manager, that one-time surplus is already being carved up, and there's not enough to go around. So naturally, they will rob Peter to pay Paul, at the expense of society's most vulnerable citizens.

Re: The States: Mad Scientist Laboratories of Democracy

The good guys pulled off a wild win in KY, holding the statehouse. They held a 50-46 lead in the statehouse with 4 vacancies to be filled by special Tuesday elections. If they lost all 4 they would lose the House because the governor is an insane cracker Tea Party c0cksucker. Doesn't sound too tough, except the 4 seats represented districts that went to Romney by between 9 and 38 points, and the Dems were expected to lose all four in routs.

Somehow, they won 3 of 4. So there is still one statehouse in a southern state that is still majority Democratic.

Re: The States: Mad Scientist Laboratories of Democracy

uno or somebody, please promise me this isn't Constitutional.

Senate Bill 439 is currently set for debate before the state’s GOP-stacked Judiciary Committee. If it is approved and signed by Governor Brownback, it will permit impeachment of any Judge who acts contrary to the wishes of the legislature. In other words, any Judge who strikes down or modifies any law the legislature passes, for any reason-- whether the law is blatantly Unconstitutional, violative of existing laws, or otherwise, is thereby subject to impeachment proceedings by the state Legislature.

Re: The States: Mad Scientist Laboratories of Democracy

Well, guess who gets to rule whether or not it's constitutional?

Lolololol. It's like watching a grandmaster play against a novice. They don't see more than one step ahead. Maybe two on a good day.

Seriously, that state is going to give Mississippi a run for the worst state in the union.

They're "standing by their principles". By which they mean that any judge who disagrees with their ridiculous legislation, is clearly a Marxist, liberal, fascist, activist. Oh, and probably a secret Mooselimb too.

Re: The States: Mad Scientist Laboratories of Democracy

How would they react to that?

Legislator: You just disagreed with our legislative will by ruling this law null and void so we're going to impeach you?
Judge: Oh, how is that? You've just been stripped of the authority to rule on such grounds.

It's really going to become a circus in that state. I'd say that the population of that state is about to see a serious reduction, but I don't think that's possible since only twelve people liver to begin with.

Brownback was re-elected. KS really does have a government reflective of its populace.

Re: The States: Mad Scientist Laboratories of Democracy

He won't survive next election.

Well, yeah. He has to take one term off before he can run again. He can trade spots with their lieutenant governor like Putin did with the president and prime minsters in Russia.

Re: The States: Mad Scientist Laboratories of Democracy

Isn't the Lt. Governor a bigger *******?

Calley? Yes. He's the ex-Teabagger (they hate him now :p) that Snyder picked as a concession to the Westsiders, and his role is more than ceremonial, which is unusual for a Lt. Gov. His role in the next stage of gutting mental health is very sad, since he has a daughter with autism. But obviously, he can afford top-notch care for her, whereas the average or poor parent cannot.

I would still consider swallowing the consequences of recalling Snyder though, even with 2.5 years left. The guy is just that loathsome.
