He thinks he is,he has vetoed 5 medicaid expansions already. The legislature has to fund it, so that's where it will get interesting.

You missed out on the free money. The Feds funded that for the first few years. His veto cost your state billions I bet.

MinnPost is reporting State Senator Dan Schoen (DFL) is under fire for sexually harassing multiple women at he capitol.

I think Frey may have been endorsed by the StarTrib, which probably helped him.

Frey is in as mayor of Minneapolis. Hasn't lived here that long. Underqualified relative to others running as a basic attorney. Was Cum Laude at Villanova - which is not that great...not Magna or Summa. Villanova is ranked 82nd best law school in the country...U of M is frankly much better at 23rd. If the guy was a 65 yo over weight dude...he wouldn't have gotten a sniff. Don't get it.

Yeah IDK, I don't think he's that much different from Hodges either. Guessing people wanted to see someone hold the police more accountable (we'll see if he even does that) and not see much else change.

I don't live in Minneapolis, so I didn't pay much attention. But, is it possible the voters considered the things he said during his campaign?

To me it seems pretty clear why he won.

The race was between the incumbent, Betsy Hodges, and basically a bunch of political unknowns. They are known in and around City Hall but didn't have a lot of name recognition otherwise.

Hodges was just a terrible mayor, which on it's face seems ridiculous. I'm not sure how a pretty liberal person in a pretty liberal city can have the unerring ability to make the wrong political move each and every time. My personal opinion is that she's not quite as bright as you first think she is, but I'm not sure.

One of the major issues in the City related to efforts to pass some laws relating to working conditions. Raise the minimum wage to $15/hr, mandatory paid time off benefits, even some proposals relating to mandatory pay for people scheduled to work but then sent home before the shift is over, like wait staff. It was a pretty big battle between the business community and those pushing the changes, and Hodges seemed to alienate just about everyone involved. Frey, on the other hand, appears to have played a pretty key role in negotiating between the parties and getting a couple of things passed. I think it was for those efforts that he received a strong endorsement from the City's major daily newspaper.

Hey, that's not fair! That map shows at least as much land voted Republican!

I detect sarcasm. :)

Land don't vote. People do. The bourgeoisie in Saddle River and Upper Saddle River were much more likely to vote R than the hoi polloi of Teaneck. And there are a heck of a lot more people in Teaneck than the Saddles River.

I think it is hilarious that some Cum Laude (insert Mallrats joke here) isnt that great...who knew graduating with honors was so unremarkable.

Seriously 5mn Major is the left version of Drew with his ridiculous takes.
