The States: Doing Their Own Thing...

Re: The States: Doing Their Own Thing...

Yeah, Minnesota is out of the running. Not sure if I wanted it or not. I think everything is just too big nowadays.

We don't pay companies to come here. Never have. Never will. Everything in the state is home grown...and that's just fine.

Re: The States: Doing Their Own Thing...

We should put a moratorium on relitigation of the 2016 primary. Hillary lost to the worst candidate ever, clearly that strategy failed and it’s not even worth discussing. If they keep running neoliberal candidates they’re gonna lose, they need someone who has plans to improve the lives of working class citizens, it’s really that simple. Even if one wins because Trump is just that unpopular it’ll just result in a swing the other way when nothing meaningful changes.

Re: The States: Doing Their Own Thing...

That's not it. The problem is when the GOP nominee does not match the consumer preference then they just out lie. The Dems don't do that -- they insist on being honest with the consumer and then lecture them when the product doesn't sell.
Ah yes, the same old trope from the elite part of the left. Keep trotting it out because you believe it, or because it makes you feel better, or makes you more popular at your social gatherings. It's that self-applied brainwashing that let's Republicans roll out literally the worst democratically elected candidate of all time and have him win.

Republican candidates tell everyone exactly how they are going to screw you, then they do it. They're going to cut taxes when most people pay very little in taxes. They are going to close the borders, oppose gay marriage, etc...

People understand that. Your belief that everyone but you is an ignorant rube allows you to just assume Republican voters are being hoodwinked. B.S. They know exactly what they are voting for.

They also know that candidates like HRC and Obama and others tossed out there by the left will tell you they're going to help you, but then once they're given the chance they don't, or the bone they throw the crowd is so insignificant people lose interest. After all, wealthy Democrats in power and the even wealthier Democrats giving them money are just as fond of their wealth as Republicans are.

Pretty much. They do lie though. All the time. But, they do deliver on what they're going to do. Anyone who's read the Trump backers letters to the editor or on Facebook or whatever knows that. Even today in the Strib some guy bought the Trump line on the tax cut hook, line, and sinker.

Saying Trump got close in Minnesota in 2016, therefore, it could swing in 2020 relies on the logic that Trump is going to somehow gain more votes based on his performance at the job, ...

He's above 40% approval for the first time since May. And has been trending upward for the last three weeks, despite the circus the last week.

Re: The States: Doing Their Own Thing...

How were the people of Carrier, coal miners, opiate addicts, people who wanted the swamp drained, and anyone who doesn’t have millions who thought Trump’s economic agenda would help them, not hoodwinked?

I mean if your argument is that they voted for him in spite of all that because they’re racist then you have a point with a large segment of his base but clearly that doesn’t explain the slight more sane republican and independent voters or the counties that swing from Obama to trump.

Put down the bong for a minute and pay attention. The 2016 election is irrelevant. Let me put this in plain English for you. If Joe Manchin is the Dem nominee in 2020, running against Trump, you vote for Manchin with a smile on your face even if he wasn't your preferred candidate even if he's not with you on 100% of the issues. The alternative is 4 more years of GOP rule. If you're too stupid to understand this concept at this point in time I'm surprised you brain functions enough to tell your lungs to breathe, let alone post out here.

The problem far lefties have is they never consider that what they have currently might get taken away. They always assume the Republicans would NEVER DARE go after Medicare or Social Security or the EPA or anything like that. Worse case scenario is status quo so why not just sit home or for the fun of it we'll vote FOR the Republicans to "send a message". Time has proven the depravity of the GOP knows no bounds. Why then do you people continue to enable it?

Because, they don't really care about all that stuff. All that stuff is secondary to God, Gays, and Guns. And until you truly understand that you will never understand the United States political system.

This is only half right. We pay to keep companies. Sweetheart deals keep them here. Don’t kid yourself.

And then when he loses don’t blame the voters like an idiot. Blame the fact that you keep trying the same thing over and over and acting confused when it doesn’t work for the 4th time since 2000.

Why do you keep enabling horrible candidates during the primary with no plan to help the average person that lose to half wits with a double digit IQ in the general election? That’s the better question.

Yep. Better find another Obama. They grow on trees. Meanwhile the GOP has elected the second worst President in my lifetime to two terms and the worst candidate and President of my lifetime to one term. As long as that's possible and it requires Obama or Clinton to beat them there is no hope. Cause Obama's and Clinton's don't grow on trees.

Its called not voting for someone in the primary who had zero margin for error against Trump in any credible poll. An 80 year Old Jewish guy had a better margin for error and practically nobody knew who he was until he narrowly lost Iowa.

Sure, and that also explains Gore and Kerry, right?

Umm..nobody wants to live in Detroit, which is why its depopulating? Had this discussion on another message board with a guy who was pimping Baltimore like his life depends on it. Sure its a sh ithole, a dump and the murder capital of the country, but housing is cheap, baby! Huh...I wonder why. ;)

Amazon would gentrify Detroit.

Your problem is you keep shouting this as if it is a revelation but EVERYBODY AGREES WITH YOU. It isn't the problem and it isn't an issue.

The rest of your post isn't worth responding to, it's just the non-Democratic wing of the Democratic party dodging responsibility as usual.

Thank you. I've been explaining this to Rover for the last decade and he hasn't gotten it; maybe you will have better luck.

This is just you spouting a talking point the right has put into your head that has no relation to reality. If you were capable of independent thought -- of thought at all -- you might escape this bullsh-t. But I'll say this for the focus group theoreticians -- boy have they got your number. So keep regurgitating this stuff back while we keep circling the drain. Keep letting them push your buttons and for goodness' sake don't ever for a moment question that maybe you are being deliberately sliced and diced apart from potential allies because they know how to activate your cultural resentments and your hurt feewies.

Good luck beating the right with that. All they have to do to get elected is avoid Roy Moore, and Todd Akin. We have to avoid career politicians because we have government as much as the Republicans do? Oh, wait.
