The States: At Least Michigan is Better Than Indiana

Re: The States: At Least Michigan is Better Than Indiana

Someone at WaPo today had a great take on that. He’ll resign a few mins before Pence leaves office so Pence can pardon him (unless incoming president is an R in which case that dude would pardon him)

Re: The States: At Least Michigan is Better Than Indiana

Then I think we have different definitions of a centrist. Oh well

Re: The States: At Least Michigan is Better Than Indiana

Centrists don't support giving extremists a voice just because they are moderate - most centrists can't stand the KKK, Hitler, etc.

So the above is misleading. In fact, the POV implicitly disparages moderation when the country can use more of it.

BS

There's a big difference between being a centrist and being able to compromise. And that is being proven over and over and over again here and in Washington.

Re: The States: At Least Michigan is Better Than Indiana

Often when people call themselves 'centrists' and they lend implicit support to extreme policies, they ain't centrists.

According to a post Charlottesville WP survey, 83 per cent of Americans think holding neo-Nazi views is unacceptable. The math doesn't support centrists being OK with extreme positions such as those depicted in that cartoon.

Re: The States: At Least Michigan is Better Than Indiana

Money influences all politicians, no matter the party. For better or for worse, no matter the party. To think otherwise is either being blind or foolish.

It's not (R) or (D) or (I); it's rich and non-rich.

Sure, but usually politicians at least have some minimum standards as to who they'll accept money from....until the modern day GOP came along! If Al Quada and the Taliban formed a super pac and started writing million dollar checks to the RNC, people like Itch McConnell and Paul Ryan would suddenly start advocating for their interests on Capitol Hill. There is no pride, ethics, love of country or courage amongst the members of the Republican party. To borrow a line from Wall Street, they'd sell their own mother for a campaign contribution and send her cash on delivery. Nobody, from the modern Dems to the now extinct "thoughtful conservatives" to whoever has even been this craven in their pursuit of rubbles - I mean dollars.

Because Ayn Rand (Ronald Reagan) would do the same.

If only Janet Reno were still alive. She could fill that AG spot and assure everyone, again, that there's nothing to see here with respect to foreign dollars pouring into a US presidential campaign to influence the election.

Huh...I missed the part about foreign adversaries hacking into Bob Dole's campaign after a public request from Bill Clinton.

And you wonder why we all humiliate you on a daily basis out here. :D

No matter what they'll find a Democrat to blame. The ****hole our country is becoming will be ushered to completion by all the folks who still insist to this day there is no difference between the parties.

Ah yes. Tried and true Rover. Change the subject and claim victory.

I don't blame a Democrat for the Russians trying to influence the 2016 election, or for Trump or any of his cronies agreeing to participate in it. But those of you who think that the Russians invented interference in U.S. elections in 2016 are just naive.

That 1996-2000 time period encompasses one of the great political gaffes of all time by a major party, committed by a party that has pretty much perfected political gaffes for the last half century. Choosing to pursue Clinton spooging on Monica instead of the Chinese spooging cash into the election? The person who made that decision should be beaten with a stick.

Uh Huh.

Speaking about the period before the 2016 election, Comey was unsparing of Republican congressional leaders who he said opposed making public intelligence community concerns over Russian interference.

“To their everlasting shame, the leaders – (Senate Majority Leader Mitch) McConnell, (House Speaker Paul) Ryan – refused,” Comey said. “I think they’re going to have a hard time explaining that to history.”
