Happened again:

Not a pickup, as his predecessor Joe Casello was also a Democrat, but Long won 63-36 (+27) while Casello, a 2-term incumbent, was 56-44 (+12) in 2024. Given the incumbent advantage, a new candidate should have underperformed, so this is probably equivalent to a +18 or +20 swing.

I'm a realist. It's what I do.
Yeah me too...but you aren't being a realist you are just pissing in everyone's cheerios every time a Dem wins an election. How about you wait until we are closer to the Midterms (or after since we kind know how this is playing out) you will sound more "realist" then ya know?

You are like half the Gopher Football fans I know who when we beat Wisconsin have to say "yeah but we didn't beat Iowa!!!". Just fucking enjoy the victory.

I just don't want people to expect great things and then experience the crushing weight of reality when nothing resembling that actually happens. Been playing the political game for over a quarter century. Even when we win, we lose.

Every state needs to duplicate every action that thwarts Dump. I don't even care that red states will use the same blueprint to impede legitimate federal oversight someday.

The Anti-Federalists were right.

While fair to some extent, you should recognize that the same narrative has been carefully sewn into our DNA because it saps our energy and leads us to set our sights lower.

One man's pragmatism is another man's deliberately conceived strategy to demoralize. Every reform/rebellion in history has likely run as much on hopium as hard-nosed practicality. And yet there has been no progress without those movements.

tldr: Handy's right. You aren't helping.

I-75 closed both directions at the Mackinac Bridge for an "active situation."

*edit* Suicide jumper. Had firearm as well. Sheriff and State Police talked her down.

Ah George never lets us down:

"News people like to say 'police have responded to an emergency situation.' No they haven’t, they’ve responded to an emergency. We know it’s a situation… everything is a situation!"

We have a bridge where I currently live where this is a not uncommon occurrence. I think I was driving across one time a year or two ago seconds after one instance. Someone stopped their car, got out, jumped. The bridge is open to pedestrians and is legally used for base jumping so they don't really have anything set up to prevent it
