The States 2: States Rights for Me But Not for Thee

Gretchen continues her crashout...
she's such a fucking disappointment.

Shit. Just Another Politician, exhibit 7421.

Who do we have left with integrity besides Bernie? Warren. AOC. Mamdani still has new car smell, though he's so slick I am assuming the other slipper will drop eventually. Anyone else?

Anyone?

Both major candidates for Maine governor are. I've known Shenna for almost 20 years and she's always been progressive. She was the head of the Maine chapter of the ACLU before getting into elected politics. She was a state senator and currently the Secretary of State (she tentatively removed Bubbasucker from the ballot in 2024)

Troy Jackson comes from a long line of woodsmen before he got into politics and has always championed the worker. He was the president of the state Senate until 2024 when he was term-limited.

Hannah Pingree is also running (and has the most money and a family name) but if Corporate Democrats had a mascot, it would be her. So naturally she will win...

I got nothing else. That's the list.

No Graham Platner? I hope it isn't Pingree, Nepo baby won't get my vote

Graham's running for the Senate and I'm not convinced he's not Fetterman 2.0 Still, he's better than Mills or Wood. I like Costello but he has no money and no name recognition despite being the Dem nominee in 24.

Going into 1992, nobody really knew who this Bill Clinton guy was.

Back in 2008, who did that uppity junior senator from Illinois think he was?

I don’t think Carter was the front runner/big name going into the 1976 election. Really, in the last 50 years, only Biden was the known Democratic front-runner to win his the election for his term.

People knew Barack Obama because of his 2004 speech at the Democratic National Convention. His name was already making the rounds as a possible candidate in 2005 when I was in DC. He didn't just walk out of a cornfield in Iowa into the national spotlight.

Yeah I knew people who watched that speech and knew he would be President.

The DNC plan was to run Hillary and win in 08 and run Obama in 16 (or 12 if she lost). He had other plans.
I mean to be fair it makes sense to try in '08 so he is ready in '16. The guy had almost zero real election experience. The problem was The Dems were so out of touch with their voters they didnt realize how apathetic we were too the establishment.

Sounds familiar...

I dont buy it mind you...but at least it is something.

They probably thought he'd run through Iowa and New Hampshire to get his feet wet then bow out after getting pummeled in South Carolina. Then he'd be ready when it was "his turn" in 12 or 16. Considering the Clinton campaign thought the California primary was winner-take-all in 08 and that Bubbasucker was the easiest candidate ever in 16 and in between the DNC oversaw the most disastrous swing in American history, losing the White House, both chambers of Congress and 1000 seats in legislatures nationwide, I'm not that surprised they miscalculated something...

A sternly written letter? He has learned well from Chuck...
