Re: The Scores, Rants, and Taunts of 01/02/2010 -- Another Rocky Night night @ Drake?
Not much to say about the Plattsburgh/Trinity matchup that isn't reflected in the boxscore. I will mention that Vesprini was better than the 7 GA and the third-period hook would indicate. His team absolutely hung him out to dry in terms of stupid penalties - just blatant, into the boards with elbows flying types of stuff. He was visibly angry by halfway through the 2nd, when Trinity went two men down on a dumb play and then put a third man in the box 7 seconds later on an even dumber one.
From Plattsburgh's perspective, they simply executed their standard gameplan: draw Trinity into a wide-open, back-and-forth game in the first, hammer away once the wheels came off in the second, and largely ease off the throttle in the third, when the outcome was already clearly decided. Leis allowed some rebounds that worried me in that they could have been exploited by a faster team, but he tracked the play well and didn't seem surprised by a shot all night, even if he didn't handle them flawlessly. Solid win.
