Re: The PPACA Thread Part V: Doctor! Doctor! Give me the news!

In other words. I still do not understand Ron Johnson's premise. Or the entire Republican premise for that matter. As usual they're not living in reality.

I think you do understand it. All but one Republican policy is driven purely by optics. The content and consequences literally do not matter. All that matters is how the policy plays in public, whether it garners more votes and more donations and more airtime for the party.

The one exception is amplifying the wealth of the richest people in the world (not in the US -- the GOP is not an American political party, it is the US franchise in the global 1% swindle of everyone else). Policies that directly transfer wealth from others to the 1% are the vital center of the GOP. Those are intentional and essential.

Everything else is just to sell the theft. In a democratic nation that means propaganda and votes, so you get talk radio and Fox News. In an African dictatorship it's giving away natural resources to the 1%. At the World Bank and the IMF it's funneling the tax money of the middle class in the developed world to the coffers of the 1% in the undeveloped world, while forcing austerity on small countries to destroy their middle classes and the socialist threat to their feudal elites. In fascist countries it's just the ruling party kicking in your front door and taking your stuff. But all those shops are in the same mall. The business model varies with the political rights of the victims, but the result is always the same.

If that's all it is then their entire political structure and philosophy is to rely entirely on the stupidity of the people. That's sad and that's a black mark on our society which is supposed to be better than that.

Re: The PPACA Thread Part V: Doctor! Doctor! Give me the news!

Graham-Cassidy backers, including Lindsey Graham and Bill Cassidy themselves, have spent much of the week saying it’s not “fair” that Medicaid expansion states receive more federal funding than states that refused to expand Medicaid. The current Republican legislation is therefore necessary, the argument goes, to create some sense of equality.

That's my favorite part of the bill. You didn't accept funding that was offered to you so you deserve more money. Republicans make ZERO SENSE ON ANYTHING. ZERO.

I for one welcome your healthy return from being cryogenically frozen in 1978.

Yes, for forty years the GOP has been a scam, and anyone who has voted for them who is not in the 1% has been a total sucker, slicing his own jugular while they laughed at him.

They're bribing Murkowski by letting Alaska keep Obamacare and the Medicaid expansion while everyone else dies. There's 50.

If I'm Murkowski that deal does squat for me. If I let Cassidy die Alaskans still have ObamaCare and I'm the Strong Independent who bravely stuck her finger in leadership's eye -- the snowbillies lap that Snake Pliskin sh-t up. Cassidy is in no position to offer me goodies because Yertle has told him he won't spend any more capital for this Quixotic mission.

McCain is the path to 50. He's so volatile and erratic it may just come down to how the old drama queen is feeling the day of the vote.

It's simpler than that. He loves graham and he doesn't want to let him down and break his heart.

Way to go Bernie. Democrats destroy themselves again.

And I just lost respect for Amy Klobuchar.

Might not need McCain if Rand Paul sticks to his guns. A big if but the guy is a loon and hates Itch.

I hate to read tea leaves but I'm not sure you agree to this town hall debate if you already have the votes.

https://politicalwire.com/2017/09/21/health-care-debate-scheduled-next-week/

But, it is a good chance for Sanders and Klobuchar to show their stuff!

That debate is now win for the Democrats. The Repubs will be up there defending the US against socialism and the stupid people will EAT it up.

But again, it doesn't seem like you'd agree to this if you already were at 50 votes. You wouldn't even bother.

Dump made things worse by pitching a fit this morning and throwing shade on Paul. Aqua Buddha responded by claiming Cassidy actually saves Obamacare and no sir, he will not rest until health care has been pried from every Poor's cold, dead fingers.

His Randian anti-statist woody is visible from space.

They bribed her last time and she said no.

Yeah...this makes no sense from the GOP side. If they had the votes they would debate and vote ASAP. This debate stalls that out.

If I had to guess even if Murkowski flips they are still below the threshold. Rand is out for sure. McCain isnt going to stand by and watch Arizona lose like $11 billion and we know for sure Collins is out.

I do not trust McCain, but Rand may save the day and shiv both Dump and Yertle.

Re: The PPACA Thread Part V: Doctor! Doctor! Give me the news!

The guy is basically on death's door so it's not like he needs to be too worried about his constituents in AZ.

I didn't trust him when he was healthy, either. He's just too volatile. He has some combination of a screw loose and a hair us his as-s.

Re: The PPACA Thread Part V: Doctor! Doctor! Give me the news!

With Rand Paul and Trump, there seems to be a definite movement to humiliate Itch. I've read the WH is ambivalent about this latest effort, but from their perspective they're probably thinking win-win. Either they get something passed, or they broadcast just how impotent McConnell is as majority leader. Perfect scapegoat for the next time Chump has to cut a deal with Schumer.

Re: The PPACA Thread Part V: Doctor! Doctor! Give me the news!

To the contrary, McCain doesn't have to worry about re-election, because odds are he won't be alive in 2022. So he could actually make the right decision and vote no again.
