All citizens are in this position. That's why protest is so important -- it's the mechanism where we say "this body that speaks for me is doing something that I personally object to."

Just as we wish moderate Muslims would vocally distinguish themselves from nutbar Muslims, it would be nice if moderate Christians distinguished themselves from nutbar Christians. Sometimes they do. Sometimes they play the game where if you criticize radical Christians they claim you are attacking all Christians. In other words, Christians act like every other group of humans that's ever walked the planet, from Englishmen to Eagles fans. :)

Critics can help their cause by being careful to include "radical" or "extreme" as an adjective when criticizing particular groups, so as not to appear to be wielding a broad brush.

Due to the highly educated nature of this board, almost no one around here uses said broad brush. Spray painters are far more effective.

Such as the way you distinguish between a few radical or extreme conservatives compared to the majority of conservatives who are reasonable? :rolleyes:

Its tough. I could go stand with a hundred people. Yeah it helps. But we call could be doing that on a half dozen cases and in the end, another body is of minimal help. I can try to educate or at least offer perspective. For that, I have a large following on message boards. I spose a :) would be in order. I actually entertained going to Washington and start a group to lobby by being a more accurate picture of Jesus' position. In the end, I decided I couldn't sacrifice myself in that war. So in the end, you do what you do.

And in case you are wondering which one...all of them. Whether it is the fascist moron you voted for because he had an MBA or the nutbar writers/speakers you troll about now it still applies :)

You know what's funny? People like you said the exact same thing about Stalin. Maybe not in this specific environment, but they believed the "science" of Trofim Lysenko, and that the Kremlin would lead them to prosperity, all while those who said otherwise were shouted down in a manner you are currently doing. As much as I respect your freedom to be able to do such a thing, be very careful that you did not just bite the hook.

Everyone thinks that the majority thinks like them. But most of the time they do not.

So why you get accused of being radically conservative a lot, maybe that is a clue where you really stand.

I understand that completely, and I'm not big on calls to arms in general. The price is when only the loons are braying in the public square, the bystanders start to think the whole group is loony. :)
